Good Behavior Review: Letty Raines, In The Mansion, With The Gun (Season 2 Episode 10)
Good Behavior enters its second season finale with two dead bodies and a lot of trouble for Javier and Letty.
On Good Behavior Season 2 Episode 10, “Letty Raines, In The Mansion, With The Gun,” we take a trip through Letty’s mind, which is a fascinating place, but not a great use of the final hour of a season of television.
The stress of having killed two people breaks Letty, so as Javier attempts to plan how to cover up the dead bodies, Letty starts to hallucinate. She starts seeing the seemingly innocent man she killed Extra Safe Security Guy Patrick, played brilliantly by Brian Baumgartner.
Just thank the lord she doesn’t start to see Teo.
Right before she begins seeing the hallucination, Letty does try to lie about how the men died. She tells a version of events that makes her quite innocent.

While I’m not sure if she does it because she’s unsure Javier will help or if she’s in denial, it provides a situation where Javier can again show his complete support for Letty.
She lies, and he doesn’t get the actual truth, at least as the viewers sees, before jumping into action to help Letty cover up the murders.
The dialogue Letty has with Patrick is fascinating because it shows viewers what she is thinking during this hectic and life-changing event — what is worrying her, the extra pressure she is putting on herself, and all the ways she makes her own life more difficult.
Patrick is a nice family guy with child who need him, but we meet many “versions” of him. Letty even catches him in mistakes in his own story, all of which she creates in her own head.
Through the comedy of Letty arguing with a clearly dead Patrick, there’s a particularly poignant moment for Letty. Her hallucination says, “no one punishes you better than you punish yourself,” and truer words have never been spoken.
While I am not sure the right moment for Letty to bring this up is after she’s killed people, it does not make it any less true. People like Estelle and Rhonda beat on Letty, but no one does it like Letty Raines.

What is so sad, but also very Good Behavior, is Letty and Javier have to leave behind the beautiful home they could have had a wonderful life together in. They lose a huge chance at whatever their version of a normal life is.
Interestingly, even after being with Javier for some time, she has no idea what he does for work. While she talks about Javier’s job often, Letty’s lack of understanding is made clear when Javier talks through his burning of the bodies and truck they were in.
Problem is the story is a retread of the major arc Letty and Javier just moved on from.
Letty runs because she makes life harder for Javier after spending several episodes apart. While delving into Letty’s mind is always fascinating, there is a lot of other ground to cover.
A major omission from the finale is Letty’s family, particularly Jacob. Jacob, Estelle Rob and even Letty’s grandma Alice only show up in a dream sequence, so viewers have no idea what is actually going on with them.
Letty spends much of the season trying to make a life with Jacob ,and while I understand why she is keeping her distance, Good Behavior would have benefited from seeing him before the season ended.

Pouring more salt in the wound is the time Letty spends with Christina and no-longer-FBI-special-agent Rhonda. It is nice to see him, but the time should be Jacob’s.
The finale seems to focus on statements Letty makes earlier in the series about never killing someone. This isn’t some journey Letty’s been on — a psycho came into her home, she defended herself, and things got VERY out of hand.
It is sad and awful, but a strange place to focus their entire story when the process to cover it up is simple. Letty’s hallucinations, while incredibly interesting, complicated what should have been a simple drive to the woods.
The actions fit Letty’s past behavior and killing a person is absolutely going to have an impact on her, but to make it the center of the finale and exclude her family seems strange for a season focused on Letty.

Good Behavior Season 2 is proof that while it likes, even loves, Javier, it is a show about Letty’s journey, at least that is the story the show tells the best.
The finale’s focus on the couple’s next chapter is nice and logical, but misses the landing on a season where Letty fought for, and with, her family so much. Where she fought and lost the battle to have a life with her son.
What is exciting is how the finale ends. Javier and Letty landing in Los Angeles with lots of cocaine to sell, new lives to start, and Letty thinking she’s a truly terrible person.
Letty will have to continue to deal with the fact that she’s now a murderer. Javier is free of his awful father and Teo, which means he can breathe a little easier. It’s uncharted waters for these two and Good Behavior.
What do you think about the season finale of Good Behavior? Would this be a fitting end if it does not get renewed for a third season? Let us know in the comments!
