Lethal Weapon Review: Let it Ride (Season 2 Episode 5)

Lethal Weapon, Reviews

On Lethal Weapon Season 2 Episode 5, “Let it Ride,” Leo Getz returns when one of his friends/clients is found dead at the racetrack. Whenever Leo appears, you know you’re in for some hilarity.

Leo definitely brings the laughs, but he also proves useful in the investigation.

He’s the one that makes people realize that Howard, his friend, was actually murdered. He makes the big breakthrough in the case because of his determination and personal knowledge of Howard.

Leo could have just be there for laughs and to be a screw up, but that would not have been as entertaining.

Murtaugh: Who says no to being in a will?

Riggs: I don’t know maybe someone who says, “I have enough crap of my own. I don’t want your crap!”

Leo: Gentlemen! No fighting in the abode of the deceased.

Honestly, the best part about Leo’s involvement this time around is that he keeps the bickering couple, aka Murtaugh and Riggs, in line. It’s no small task. Did you enjoy seeing Leo again?

Now, let’s shift gears and talk about the heartbreakers of the hour — Trish and Riggs.

Watching Riggs realize that he crashed his car into Murtaugh’s house is absolutely devastating. The tears start forming before Riggs can even open his mouth and attempt to apologize to Trish.

The music definitely plays a big part in that, but honestly Clayne Crawford and Keesha Sharp deserve so much credit. The scene is absolutely beautiful and powerful.

Trish is probably the person that Riggs never, ever wants to disappoint or hurt.

Lethal Weapon Trish and Riggs

On top of it all, Riggs crashes into the yard drunk. Considering the flashbacks, you can’t help but think that Riggs fears that he’s turned into his father.

Trish and Riggs have one of my favorite relationships on the show, and so anytime they get a chance to explore that and build upon it, I’m happy.

Riggs opening up to Trish shows how much he values her friendship, and how he doesn’t want to lose her. He’s about as open with her (if not more so) as he is with Cahill.

Trish: But home isn’t a shell you climb into. It’s the people who are there for you, that leave the door open, even when you’re at your worst.

The case itself isn’t anything special. Honestly, it doesn’t demand your attention as much as everything else in the hour does. The random friends being the killers is a little lame.

It’s nice seeing the B team play a part in the case, but it’s a small part and Leo sort of figures everything out. They are just there to eat the giant sandwich and help comb through Howard’s apartment.

Hopefully one day Bailey and Bowman will get a chance to really shine in a case.

We know Bailey is really good at her job, so maybe Bowman can prove he’s not just a pretty face. I’d like to believe that Bowman has some detective skills. Do you want to see more of the B team?
