The Bold Type Photo Preview: Liquid Courage (Season 1 Episode 9)

On The Bold Type Season 1 Episode 9, “Before Tequila Sunrise,” Jane must decide if she will take Insight’s offer for a new position, while also weighing if she should give Ryan a chance at monogamy and her heart.

Sutton makes moves to progress her career by gaining an independent fashion credit in Scarlet Magazine. And lastly, Kat makes a huge decision about whether or not she should follow Adena back to her middle eastern home country.

I’m very vocal about my love for Jane and Ryan. I love how they communicate, how they balance one another and the passion Ryan incites in her is amazing. So, I do hope Jane gives him a chance and she doesn’t over think her way out of a great relationship.

However, knowing Jane, who knows what she will choose. In The Bold Type season 1 Episode 7, she said she was ready for love, but it’s an entirely different thing believe you are ready and to actually take the step. This is especially the case when you take into consideration how she describes her last breakup in The Bold Type premiere.

Since Sutton believes her love life is put on hold, she’s putting all of her energy into fashion and I adore her drive. We know Alex will definitely tell her yes because that’s just Alex. So, all that is left is for Sutton is bringing everything home with her fashion skills.

Well, that and for her to hash out her feelings about whoever we see in her bed during the promo video. Sutton looks disoriented, so I assume the one-night stand happens after congratulatory drinks following the successful conclusion of Alex’s story. But the huge question remains, is that Alex or someone else?

Kat truly makes me question her growth in this episode. I know she loves Adena. We all love Adena. However, Adena’s home country would be horrible for Kat.

At least Adena is from there, so she’s aware of all the cultural norms and how to successfully subvert them. Kat knows none of these things. She’s entirely too wild and reactive as an individual to go to such a conservative middle eastern country.

Kat going there would literally be like water and oil. Additionally, Scarlet has just given her the new promotion. So, not only would she be sacrificing her comfortable way of life, but she would also be sacrificing a huge step in her career.

I figured she might do something like this after The Bold Type Season 1 Episode 8. Huge commitments scare her and, right now, her and Adena are more stable than the future of her now expanding job responsibilities. So, she’s running.

Her love for Adena is real. No question. But I just don’t see this decision ending well for anyone.
