Teen Wolf Review: Raw Talent (Season 6 Episode 12)
Fear brings out the worst in people. It can twist us into unrecognizable versions of ourselves despite being part of a community (like Beacon Hills) and knowing these people for years.
That’s exactly what happens on Teen Wolf Season 6 Episode 12, “Raw Talent.”
Whatever is roaming in Beacon Hills, the monster the Ghost Riders kept trapped, is stirring the pot. It’s elevating people’s fears and making them believe they are in more danger than they actually are.
Don’t get me wrong, Beacon Hills has had many (copious, plenty, a lot of) instances where people got hurt. But Scott’s pack has always protected them and never been one that they’ve really feared. Not until now.

The counselor is slowly spiraling and giving in to the fear and pleasure she feels when she overcomes something she perceives to be stronger than her. In her mind she’s protecting her people without taking into account that these kids are her people.
And when I really think about it, I don’t even think Gerard is there. This version of him could just be an extension of the creature causing trouble in Beacon Hills.
It could be like what Scott saw in the forest, a creation made from their darkest nightmares. Or it could be like Lydia in Eichen House and how flashbacks of the past immobilized her.
It could also be that the spiders are to blame for all of this. They’ve been appearing all over the town and are part of some plot to freak the people out.
Slowly but surely, we’re seeing the town of Beacon Hills forget the part of them that understood that the things that go bump in the night aren’t always bad things. They’re seeing things in black and white and hunting their neighbors.
I speak in plural when talking about the new hunters in the town, because with Gerard in the picture their forces will grow. It only takes one person with raw talent to get the ball rolling. And that person is the counselor, Ms. Monroe.
Additional Observations:

- There’s something brewing between Scott and Malia and I’m not against it. It only takes a moment to change things between people. I think they had that moment in the forest. It didn’t feel fake or rushed. It was a simple moment between two people who care for each other and just so happen to have similar experiences. The Scott and Malia of a couple of seasons ago wouldn’t have worked. But they’ve grown as people, and I could see it happening now and working out.
- You will not make me feel sympathy for Theo. You will not make me feel sympathy for Theo. You will not make me feel sympathy for Theo. (I’m going to repeat this to myself multiple times, because it did bother me that he was sleeping in his car and had no one to contact when he realized something was wrong.)
- What happened with that person in the shower? I’m using person loosely because it could have been a number of things. I need to rewind that bit and watch again.
- Liam is growing and developing into the kind of man/leader/mini Alpha, Scott would be proud of despite his anger issues right now. Those are being stirred up by the creature roaming Beacon Hills. He’s not that hot head anymore. He’s the one who falls into holes and looks like a pup doing it.
