5 Things We Learned about ‘Arrow’ at San Diego Comic Con
Though San Diego Comic-Con panels are sometimes more about celebrating a cast’s camaraderie or about thanking the fans, this year’s Arrow panel was surprisingly filled with actual information about Season 6 of The CW drama.
Of course, there was also the requisite deviation – like the cast taking a moment to sing Happy Birthday to leading lady Emily Bett Rickards and the aforementioned lady and Katie Cassidy playing at ignoring Stephen Amell, who sat in between them, and teasing their connection and future scenes together.
But, in general, we did learn a few things about the upcoming season.
Anger issues about Season 5 are more than understandable.
So, here are the five most important things we learned during the Arrow SDCC Panel.
1. Oliver Queen is a bad dad, which, honestly, is to be expected. He has no experience being a good dad and he has a, let’s say… complicated, job. But yeah – Oliver is going to have a hard time of it, and we’re really glad to hear it. Anything else would have been just way too easy.

2. Michael Emerson, of Lost fame, is joining the cast as a recurring unnamed villain, while David Nykl is set to reprise his role as Anatoly Knyazev, because, apparently, once you go Russia you never come back. Either way, the show is playing at a team of villains, something that worked pretty well with Legends of Tomorrow last season, so we can’t exactly blame them.
3. The show will still use flashbacks, but they will not be serialized like they’ve been in the first five seasons – instead they’ll be character specific and serve to go more in depth into other characters outside of Oliver Queen.
4. “Manu Bennett is back for the season premiere, but he’s also coming back for a special two-part episode in the first half of the season where we’re really going to be focusing hard on his character post-everything he’s experienced on the show,” promised Marc Guggenheim. “And we intend to do a Slade Wilson flashback story.”

5. The aforementioned EP also promised a more grounded Season 6, whatever that means, because that’s exactly what they promised last year.
The panel also featured a Season 6 trailer, which you can watch below:
