ICYM(issing)I: Day One San Diego Comic-Con Trailers: Bright, Inhumans, and More
Chances are, if you’re reading this, you didn’t make it out to San Diego for one of the biggest nerd events of the year.
And that’s fine. Life happens.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t stay up to date on some of the biggest TV trailers of 2017. So while I, along with rest of the Tell-Tale TV staff, will also be bringing you the meat and potatoes of San Diego Comic-Con later this weekend, I’ll be serving some mid-morning mimosas.
Take a f-ckin’ sip, babes.
Death Note
First up, Netflix released a clip from their upcoming series, Death Note based on the successful Japanese manga series. Death Note features a Japanese white kid who is given a magic book with the power to kill anyone that he writes in it. Here’s a look at brand new clip from Netflix where the main character Light (Nat Wolff) encounters Ryuk (Willem Dafoe).

First thoughts: I literally don’t know enough about this entire concept to have developed an opinion about it. Trailer seems cool, though.
Death Note premieres August 25 on Netflix.
Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling
Next, fresh off the train of 90s nostalgia that brought you Fuller House and the upcoming Hey Arnold movie, is Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling, a TV movie based on the beloved Nickelodeon show. The revival reunites creator Joe Murray and the entire original voice cast, along with director Cosmo Segurson. In this sneak peek, Rocko and pals experience life in the untamed wilds of the 21st century.

First thoughts: While I personally was not born until 2007, I do have vaguely fond memories of Rocko’s when it aired. So I’m interested in seeing the same crew handle social commentary of life in the 2010s.
Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling, a TV movie special is slated to air on Nickelodeon in 2018.
Bright
One of Netflix’s more intriguingly curious projects, Bright stars Will Smith and Joel Edgerton as two LA cops on the hunt for a murder suspect. The twist? Fairies exist, Joel Edgerton is basically an orc, and the murder suspect has a magical wish-granting wand.

First thoughts: I mean, it’s Will Smith playing Will Smith, which can get old, but with such an fascinating premise, this is definitely at least worth adding to that never-emptying Netflix queue.
Bright hits Netflix December 22.
Marvel’s The Inhumans
And finally, an extended look at Marvel’s The Inhumans, a new show from the visionary showrunner behind Marvel’s best, most well-written, well-acted series, Iron Fist.

First thoughts:
Juuuuust kidding. This show looks like trash (and that was before I knew about the Iron Fist part). The graphics look mediocre, the acting is galling, and Medusa, that wig, sis… I wish they would devote this much money to Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, but we live in a world where injustice reigns and a madman lives in the White House.
Marvel’s The Inhumans premieres in IMAX September 1 (hahaha, yeah, okay) and then on ABC September 28.
