9 Things You Should Know About The Originals Season 4

Lists, Previews, The Originals

It’s time to get excited, because The Originals returns for Season 4 this Friday!

With it comes family, blood, and tons of mayhem. It’s good to know that we’ll continue to have a weekly order of vampires, witches, and the unknown each Friday night.

Here are 9 things you should know about The Originals Season 4. Warning: spoilers ahead!

1. Hope is very much like her parents.

Hayley Marshall, The Originals Season 4

The littlest Mikaelson, played by Summer Fontana, will have many of her parents attributes. Executive producer Michael Narducci told TVLine that Hope will have her mother’s street smarts and her father’s temperament and willingness to do whatever it takes to protect her family.

Considering that they’ve been on the run for five years, she’ll also understand the need for secrecy, keeping your head down, and that even at a young age, she has many enemies. I honestly think we’ve never seen a kid like this before.

2. Cami is still part of Klaus’ life.

Klaus Mikaelson & Camille O'Connell, The Originals Season 4

Last we left Klaus Mikaelson, he was a changed man. Cami had left a mark on his soul that couldn’t be erased by her death, Marcel’s betrayal, or the loss of his family. It’s not 100% clear if Cami is a ghost or a figment of his imagination coming back to Season 4, but she’s been there, keeping him sane and making sure that the changed man who loved her, doesn’t disappear.

In an EW interview with Narducci he said, “It gets into the question of once someone comes into your life and influences you in that kind of way, are they ever really separate from you or are they always a part of you?”

The answer is yes. Cami will always be a part of him.

3. Haylijah is alive & well.

Hayley Marshal & Elijah Mikaelson, The Originals Season 4

Showrunner Julie Plec told EW that when Elijah wakes up, he will be thrown back into their relationship. Also, Hayley is not going to have a love interest waiting on the sidelines to reveal himself.

Her number one priority has been keeping her promise to the Mikaelsons. Oh, and her daughter Hope.

4. Marcel is the king of New Orleans.

Marcel Gerard & Klaus Mikaelson, The Originals Season 4

Five years later and Marcel still holds power of New Orleans. He’s been accepting any and all un-sired vampires into his city. Not so surprisingly, this open door policy leads to some vampires arriving that could overthrow the king.

We suspect that the unlikely source that he seeks counsel from is Klaus. If there’s anyone that knows how to deal with an unwelcome threat it’s him. But after 5 years, what kind of advice could the tortured Klaus really give?

5. We’re getting flashbacks to Marcel’s previous reign as king.

Marcel Gerard, The Originals Season 1

Just because he’s king, doesn’t mean that things are perfect or that the city is in better hands than with Klaus. In Season 4, we’re going to explore the time before the Mikaelsons returned to the Quarter.

Marcel’s allowed some horrible things to happen in his city that have left him with regrets. There’s no doubt that, by the end of the exploration of Marcel’s rule, we’ll be left wondering how different he truly is from his mentor Klaus.

6. There’s a new witch in town after kids, including Hope.

Vincent Griffith, The Originals Season 4

Vincent, who is still working closely with Marcel, will reveal some horrifying secrets about his ex-wife just as they’re beginning the search for a new witch in New Orleans.

This mysterious and dangerous witch plans on sacrificing a group of innocent children, including the powerful Hope Mikaelson, for obviously nefarious reasons. Eva Sinclair’s secrets could be the key to understanding what she needs the children for.
