12 Reasons NBC’s ‘Timeless’ Needs to be Renewed
7. The Setting

As a Vancouver transplant, I am delighted to see my adopted city featured in Timeless each week. Much like spotting familiar sights in the host of The CW shows filmed here, it’s fun to try and puzzle out which Vancouver location Timeless’ incredible set design team managed to turn into Nixon-era Washington D.C., or Las Vegas circa 1962.
The show is also a great boost to the Vancouver economy, which happily employs thousands of Canadians in the film industry each year.
8. Rittenhouse

I don’t know how they do it, but Timeless somehow pulls off the Illuminati angle without coming off as hokey. The secret organization that controls American politics (and perhaps beyond?) is given just enough vague detail and villainy to make them believable as the big bad of Season 1.
There’s a visceral satisfaction in seeing our heroes thwart them. Sure, the idea is a little goofy, but the menace that they bring in the finale adds a whole other layer to Rittenhouse — at Lucy’s expense. Now there’s some family drama for you.
9. Pop Culture Aplenty

You want jokes? Rufus has got jokes. One of the best things about Rufus’ character is how he communicates and relates to the world around him through pop culture references. Not only does he fit in best in the 1980s during the first run of The A-Team, but he and Jiya’s romance blossoms due to both of them being gigantic geeks.
In fact, without a series of Star Wars clues, Jiya and Rufus wouldn’t have been able to work together to save the trio from being stuck in the past with a busted time machine. Not to be dramatic, but they are the best ship on this show.
10. The Mythology

With Rittenhouse firmly tied to the family history of the Prestons, Timeless set itself up with a brilliant overarching story that only adds to the existing mysteries of the show. One of the best and so far unanswered ones is the puzzle of Lucy’s journal. Flynn claims prior knowledge of future events due to the existence (and his possession) of Lucy’s yet unwritten journal.
What secrets does it hold? Why did Lucy of the future give it to him? And what will happen to Flynn?
The constant question of this, in conjunction with the corporate espionage at Mason, and Rittenhouse’s role in both Lucy and Rufus’ life, gives Timeless some truly complex places to go in Season 2. And of course, the paramount question that Wyatt got so close to answering: who killed his wife, Jessica?
11. The Cast
Just look at them. They’re a bunch of goofballs.
12. The Ships

We would be remiss if we left out the thing that sends social media aflutter: the romance! Whether you’re for Lyatt (Wyatt/Lucy) or Riya (Rufus/Jiya) or anything in between, Timeless has no shortage of fans rooting for their favorite ships.

Abigail Spencer. ’nuff said.
All my favorite shows are being or have been cancelled. If NBC deep sixes Timeless I won’t have anything at all to watch. Not to mention that of all the new shows this year the only two worth watching are Designated Survivor and Timeless. Get with it NBC. You’ve lost Grimm and Blacklist can’t last forever. You NEED Timeless, and so do we.
Absolutely! Timeless is a wonderful show; hope the network is smart enough to renew!
Renew a great show. Get with the program…keep good shows running!
