The Flash Review: Untouchable (Season 3 Episode 12)
A meta-of-the-week that decays humans by touch shows up on The Flash Season 3 Episode 12, “Untouchables,” and Barry discovers that Clive Yorkin is targeting CCPD officers from Flashpoint.
Meanwhile, Joe sets a meet up with his girlfriend, her daughter and Joe’s family. Joe says nothing can happen in Jitters, apparently forgetting all the attacks that have happened there. No surprise that Yorkin shows up there to confront Joe. This is Jitters, after all!
Joanie is a huge Kid Flash fan and argues with her mom about who is better: Kid Flash or Flash.

Wally, once again, is enjoying the fame and glory. Joanie tries to pressure Joe to say who is the real hero, an awkward choice when both heroes are at the table. Joe is, thankfully, interrupted by Clive Yorkin’s arrival.
Iris is emotional about the chance that Joe (or Wally when trying to save him) could’ve died in Jitters. She tells Joe about the future Barry saw and Joe is understandably furious they have been keeping it from him.
Wally is not fast enough to keep Iris from the death touch of Yorkin, and he is faced with the reality of being a speedster. It deflates his ego that he did not save Iris. This is probably a good thing.
Wally needs to learn that being a hero is not all fun and fame.
The episode may be a meta of the week episode, but the strength of this it is the team. Everyone on Team Flash gets to be in their element at some point. Caitlin and Cisco both use their meta power and science knowledge to help save Iris.

Not often is there a chance to see everyone contributing in a unique way to save the day.
Cisco uses his confidence in his vibe powers gained last week to vibe to Flashpoint. He learns the identity of another officer that Yorkin could target.
Barry and Wally both get an opportunity to develop their skills as the only way to save everyone. Wally stops Yorkin by phasing through him with his blood.
The weakness of the episode is that the “science” of how they save Iris is glossed over. Julian says since they stopped Yorkin they had to time find a cure. It seems unclear exactly how that worked, but Iris is back to normal.
The episode once again wraps up with sweet moments between Barry and Iris. I worry that getting so many WestAllen moments now means they won’t always be there. Or this is just to make up for when they were few and far between.
Wally is practicing phasing when Jessie comes through the portal and says Grodd has her father. Looks like in the next episode we will be heading to Gorilla City.
Quick Thoughts
- Loved H.R.’s reference to Vice President Al Capone.
- Glad to see some CSI.
- Joe’s comment about how Wally better be going to class was funny
- Panic alarms are best idea Team Flash has ever had.
- H.R.’s contribution seems to be jokes and crazy ideas.
