The Bachelor Recap: Cry Me an Ocean (Season 21 Episode 6)
While last week ended with “the most epic Two-on-One date in The Bachelor history” — oh really, Chris Harrison? — The Bachelor Season 21 Episode 6 opens with the remaining ladies as they patently wait to see who will be sent home — Taylor or Corrine.
Of course, we already know Nick has sent Taylor packing, but will her determination to bring Corrine down with her prove successful?
Corrine, Interrupted
It’s time to find out, as Taylor bursts through the doors of the private hall where Nick and Corrine sit, enjoying dinner together. She escorts Nick outside and gets right down to business. He was lied to, and she thinks he deserves to know.
Nick, though he “appreciates” Taylor’s sincerity, all but spits in her face. Once he sends her away again, he heads straight back inside to make out with Corrine. Apparently, Taylor doesn’t have what he’s looking for in a mature and committed relationship, but Corrine does??

Corrine, at least, has learned something from this whole Two-on-One experience: “Cats have nine lives, but bitches have two.” There’s that multimillion dollar business brain we’ve been waiting to hear from.
Ain’t Nobody Got Time for that Cocktail Party
Now that the Two-on-One drama is settled, it’s time for another pre-Rose Ceremony cocktail party, and the girls are more nervous than usual. They know things are starting to get serious, and they’re all worried about whether their time with Nick this week has been enough.
Things get worse when Chris Harrison enters and announces that there will be no cocktail party tonight. Nick knows what he wants — and who he doesn’t want — so there’s no need to waste time.
Thus, after another drawn out ceremony on a scenic outdoor green, it’s Alexis, Josephine, and Jamie who are left rose-less.
To everyone’s surprise, it’s Alexis who appears most disappointed. In tears, she admits that it’s hard for her to be vulnerable with other people. She must have forgotten letting her guard down just last week, with Nick-as-Nicholas-Cage.
Russian into Romance
It’s time for a change of scenery, and Nick is hoping the island of St. Thomas is just the spot to begin falling in love. Hopefully, his experience in this beachy paradise ends on a brighter note than his last Paradise-set love story.
The first One-on-One date this week is with Kristina, and she couldn’t be more excited. As she points out, they’re already halfway through this process, so she’s more than ready for some real private time with Nick.
Jasmine, on the other hand, is not pleased. She’s brought to tears by the thought of Nick — someone she can see herself ending up with — going off on a date with someone else. As someone who still hasn’t had a One-on-One, she can’t help but ask when it will be her turn.
On their date, Kristina finally tells Nick all about her childhood and family back in Russia. Though it’s scary for her to reveal such intimate things with someone, she knows that if she and Nick have any shot at a future together, she needs to share these stories with him — and everyone else in Bachelor Nation, of course.
It turns out Kristina has been through extremely difficult and heartbreaking times, and the fact that she has overcome them and found a family in America is, as Nick puts it, “incredible.” Kristina gets the night’s rose, and she and Nick end their evening together dancing underneath the stars.
Life — and Love’s — a Beach
Back at the women’s hotel, this week’s group date card arrives. Both Danielle L. and Whitney’s names are missing from the invite, which means there will be a second Two-on-One this season, and soon!
But before we get to that, it’s time to kick of the group date. Nick is hoping to have some fun this week, so they’re all headed out for a day at the beach.

On the way, Nick takes some time to really get to know the women by asking the hard-hitting questions: “Christmas or Halloween?” and “Chocolate or vanilla?” Will their answers factor into his final decision on who to wed? Only time will tell.
Things turn from light-hearted to chaotic rather quickly, however, when a game of beach volleyball grows overly competitive. From the looks of things, the ladies have had a few too many tequila shots. Suddenly, everyone is crying, and we’re left completely in the dark when it comes to the final score of their game.
Thankfully, it’s soon time for the evening portion of the group date, and Nick is hoping he can revive the dying mood with some cocktails and conversations. Unfortunately for him, things remain tense. The women are worried about the way Nick’s been feeling and whether or not he will blindside them in the end.
Jasmine, in particular, is still upset by the fact that she hasn’t had a One-on-One yet. Raven claims Jasmine’s been “spiraling out of control,” but the girl has a point. Without any extended time alone with him, she feels like Nick doesn’t even see her — and she’s about to confess this feeling “straight to his face.”

Before Jasmine can confront Nick, however, he beats her to the punch and pulls her aside on his own. This gesture isn’t enough to ease her mind, though. She frankly asks him: “Do you not see me?” And though she does go on to clearly express the frustration she’s been feeling, Nick is somehow confused by whether or not she’s “okay or not.”
Jasmine goes on to admit she didn’t come here to play games or go on vacations, so she’s wondering whether it’s worth being here if Nick won’t give her a chance.
While she tells him all this, Nick can’t even bring himself to look her in the eye. He later tells the camera that he felt “awkward” throughout their conversation, most likely because — at 36 years old — he still can’t quite deal with another human’s emotions.
Nick therefore decides that now is the perfect time to send Jasmine home. She takes the rejection like a champ — until the moment she steps into the limo. Here, she lets the tears fall. She tells us she doesn’t think Nick knows what he wants and, as viewers, it’s hard not to agree…
Goodbye Two You (Both)
It’s now time for the season’s second Two-on-One, and this time either Danielle L. or Whitney will be heading home. Both girls claim they didn’t see this date coming, and they’re worried Nick choosing them for it is a sign he’s been questioning their connections with him.
Whitney is the first to chat with Nick one-on-one, and he takes the opportunity to tell her she’s beautiful. Being that this is the first time we’ve ever heard Whitney speak, could her good looks really be enough to keep her around for another week?
Danielle L., on the other hand, has a significant history with our Bachelor. Unlike Whitney, she’s already had a One-on-One date, and she can truly see herself ending up with Nick.
She tells him all this, and he responds by very abruptly stepping away from their conversation. He doesn’t want to waste anyone’s time, so he heads straight back to Whitney and sends her right home.
Whitney is visibly pissed, and understandably so. But rather than blame Nick for his lack of empathy, she asks him if he thinks Danielle is “ready for a relationship.” If anything, Whitney, the fact that you would use this moment of insecurity to bring down another women proves that you’re the one who isn’t.
During their private time together post-Whitney, Nick is still unsure of whether he and Danielle L. have a future together. When she tells him her feelings are stronger than ever and that she’s definitely falling in love with him, the constipated look on Nick’s face says it all.
With true pain in his eyes, he tells her: “If there was someone I wanted to be it… it was definitely you.”
Unfortunately for Danielle L, you can’t always get what you want, and Nick is no exception. It seems that what he once thought he wanted just isn’t what’s right for him now, and he can’t justify giving Danielle the rose tonight.
When the other girls, who wait in their nearby hotel room, see Danielle’s bags taken away, they can’t believe their eyes. As they sit together, expressing their mutual surprise, Nick — who’s seen waddling toward their room — suddenly interrupts. He needs a shoulder, or 6, to cry on.
And oh, does he cry.
Between sobs, Nick tells the women (again) how terrified he is of this whole process failing him. Then, as abruptly as he entered, he exits their room — leaving the ladies more confused than ever.

Will Nick let his undying fear of rejection ruin the connections he’s formed with the six remaining ladies? Share your predictions in the comments and be sure to tune in when The Bachelor returns next Monday at 8/7c on ABC.
