Bones: 28 Thoughts We Had While Watching “The Flaw in the Saw” (Season 12 Episode 6)

Bones, Reviews

On Bones Season 12 Episode 6, “The Flaw in the Saw,” the team investigates the murder of a golfer who actually has a hobby she’s much more passionate about: Lumberjacking. Meanwhile, Hodgins has some evidence that could prove Zack’s innocence.

This is another episode of Bones that is just generally fun to watch. Brennan, in particular, has some great moments that remind us why we’ve always loved her character so much.

And Booth? Well, he’s really excited about the whole lumberjacking thing.

Since this episode is a lighter one (in true Bones fashion, next week’s will not be) I thought it might be fun to take a bit of a different approach. So, here are 28 quick thoughts I had while watching “The Flaw in the Saw.”

1. As is often the case, we’re about to see someone randomly find a dead body in the grossest way imaginable. That’s an arm, dude. Well, he’s going to be traumatized.

2. I love that Booth is teaching Christine to ride a bike. Of course, Brennan brings physics into the mix. That dynamic is one of my favorite things about their relationship.

3. “You’d think after 12 years, you could handle a little viscera with your oatmeal.” Such a funny line from Brennan, and quite frankly, it’s also bit meta. She could just as easily be talking to the audience here.

4. I have never felt this bad for Rudolfo. Hodgins is horrible for making him search for that skull!

5. Nope, it’s not a golf tournament. Lumberjacking! And what does that mean, exactly? I have never heard of such a thing. The woman’s girlfriend was clearly not a fan.

6. The victim was dismembered by a chainsaw! I find that particularly upsetting, but perhaps I should refer back to #3.

7. I would love to see Rudolfo get to go to the lumberjacking competition.

8. Do all men really love chainsaws? Let’s see some evidence.

9. “I’ll chat snap it!” Oh, Brennan. This is why I love you.

10. That’s definitely why Booth shouldn’t call her Bones! What a funny bit. I’m glad they went there.

11. Smart, Booth. Wait for her to put down the chainsaw, THEN accuse her of murder. He’s a logical guy.

12. It really sounds like Brennan would have liked Phyllis. They would have had plenty to talk about.

13. Somehow I don’t think Rudolfo has ever been more likable than he is in this episode. He’s making a heck of a case for testing chainsaws.

14. YES! Hodgins thinks he has a way to prove Zack didn’t commit that murder. While that’s good news, I’m even happier that this is something we’re getting back to. I’ve been waiting for the team to focus on this more.

15. It always kills me when people to decide to run from the cops. At least this guy can climb a tree.

16. Booth proves he’s a big, strong man with that axe! I’m pretty sure all the ladies swooned a little there.

17. It’s perfect that Aubrey gets to interview the flapjack guy. It works out well, too, since he’s able to prove with a bite that this guy is telling the truth about his use of butter instead of vegetable oil.

18. Booth and Brennan know the real reason this woman was so tired from her weekends with Phyllis…

19. Brennan’s attempts to comfort her are classic. More of this, please!

20. The joy on Hodgins and Rudolfos’ faces while they use those chainsaws is everything. “It was his idea!”

21. “One giant Jack stack of a coincidence.” This seems like a phrase Aubrey should use more often.

23. This episode is really fun, but let’s get more information about Zack, yeah?

24. We should have KNOWN Rudolfo would get hurt.

25. So Rudolfo’s injury in that moment gives Brennan the cause of death. Now that is a Jack stack of a coincidence.

26. Oh, Hodgins. I hope you’re right about this, though I agree with Cam that this could be too good to be true. It does almost sound too easy.

27. How fun! Booth and Brennan competing in a log rolling competition is adorable to watch. Overall, this episode is a particularly fun one for these two.

28. The fun isn’t going to last, apparently. From the look of those previews, we’re in for a really suspenseful episode next week. And I have to say, I’m excited about it.

  • First, the word is grossest. Somehow a T was left off in comment number 1. Yes, there are lumberjack competitions. I can’t comment on the size of prize winnings, but the show did display some of the various events that they do have. I am a guy, and sure, why wouldn’t I like a chain saw. Extremely dangerous, powerful, and effective. A trifecta of guyness.
