Teen Wolf  Season 6 Episode 9, “Memory Found,” shines a spotlight on why Scott, Lydia, and Malia have such a strong bond with our missing human, Mieczyslaw Stilinski.

It peels back at the layers of their love for him and reminds us how much we miss the 147 pounds of pale skin and fragile bones.

First up is the BFF, alpha, and brother.

Scott has trouble coming up with a clear picture of Stiles because he’s got too much love for his brother. (Never thought that would be a problem!) His anger and desperation to find Stiles is hindering his progress. And while he gets powerful and vivid flashes of his time with Stiles, it’s not enough to rip open a gateway.

The two solid memories he unearths, Stiles locking up Scott during a transformation and the Motel California confession, only drives him harder and makes him even more open to taking whatever risks come next.

Then there’s Lydia and the Stydia feels.

There’s no denying the chemistry and history between Stiles and Lydia. When everyone continued to doubt Stiles existence, she stood strong and said no. She fought and acted like a tree, unmovable and unshakeable.

When she delves into her memories, via Scott’s excellent hypnosis skills, she remembers the first time she saw him as more than a dorky spaz or the human companion to their supernatural shenanigans. She remembers how much she cares for him and how she never got an opportunity to explore the feelings she’s been carrying around inside of herself for a while.

The only thing that bothers about Lydia being the linchpin to opening a gateway to the Ghost Riders, is the insinuation that her love is stronger than Scotts.

When it comes down to it, being a banshee allows Lydia to first recognize the void in all of their lives and subsequently the wound he left in her mind and soul when they took him away.

It doesn’t discount her feelings for Stiles, it just provides a concrete explanation as to why Lydia’s mind is able to break through all the smoke and mirrors of the Ghost Riders to find Stiles.

Teen Wolf has been always been a story about discovery, love, werewolfs, family, but most importantly friendship. Scott and Stiles are the cornerstone, despite the doubts, trials, and tribulations they’ve faced along the way.

Then there’s our bae Malia.

Her world is chaotic and still piecing itself back together till this day. Amongst all of that mess she finds memories of Stiles because he changed her life irrevocably.

Stiles gave Malia a home, a chance to be more, and an anchor among all the scary avenues of being a werecoyote in high school. She wasn’t alone because Stiles was there to guide her, even when they weren’t together.

Malia’s love for Stiles is different but just as valid as Scott and Lydia’s.

Whatever comes next, “Memory Found” gives Scott, Lydia, and Malia another advantage over the Ghost Riders. Now they know for a fact that their minds, and the love they hold for Stiles, holds the key to destroy the Ghost Riders and uncover what they’re really up to.

The McCall Pack is coming for Stiles and there’s little the Ghost Riders can do to stop them.

Lyra is a TV and movie enthusiast. It all started on a dark night when she turned on Fox and fell in love with the X-Files. It was all history after that as she got lost in Doctor Who, The Marvel Verse and most recently everything DC. Her love for Doctor Who lead her to study abroad, where she fell into live-tweeting and the lovely explosion of fandom life that Tumblr is. Her main love for the summer (with a mega re-watch happening) is Arrow. When she isn’t sharing her love for TV and movies she’s writing fan-fiction, taking care of her family, and puttering around her kitchen.
