Grimm Review: Trust Me Knot (Season 6 Episode 2)
“Man is not what he thinks he is, he is what he hides.”
As Grimm Season 6 Episode 2, “Trust Me Knot,” shows, we are taking things nice and slow this season, and there’s nothing wrong with that. This is the final season, so we should be focused on a tighter storyline and not filling up the majority of the hour with a Wesen of the week storyline.
However, this can make for a darker hour. There’s really not a lot of humor in Renard gunning for Nick, and Nick trying to survive and not be completely possessed by a stick (more on that in a bit).
Thankfully, we do still get a dose of humor through Bud and Monroe.
Bud has always been an absolute delight ever since he first popped up to fix Nick and Juliette’s fridge. He’s definitely a part of Team Grimm but without all the seriousness and occasional doom and gloom that comes along with the gig.
Bud: But if you need me, I’m willing to spend the rest of my life down here in this tunnel, if that’s what it takes.
Wu: Uh, what about your wife?
Bud: Oh, yeah…yeah, she probably wouldn’t like living down here too much, but the kids sure would.
Monroe and Diana are absolutely amazing. There’s really no other word for their interactions.
Monroe constantly worries about everything Diana does or could potentially do, and then Diana is just acting like she is playing something as ordinary as tea party. She has no grasp that what she is doing isn’t normal by human or Wesen standards.
In addition to adding some humor to the hour, Diana’s time at the spice shop makes her come across as a much more likable character.
Previously the focus has been on her power and how dangerous she can be. We have seen Diana go full on psycho and use dolls to force her parents to make out, and we’ve also seen her murder her father’s mistress and act like she did nothing wrong.
Diana was a character that you feared and thought of as creepy as all get out. Those were really the only two things that people would generally associate with her before this episode, at least those were the thoughts that came to my mind whenever she would appear on screen.
Her time at the spice shop reminds us that she is still a child and potentially even a good person. She’s just so darn cheerful.
This dichotomy makes Diana a much more intriguing character. It’s a reminder that while she may have the capability to do some truly awful things, she is still a child who does not know better, which is now more of a sad thing than a “omg how creepy” thing.
Diana helping with the cloth is an unexpectedly delightful moment. No one tries to hide what they are doing or anything. I kind of love that Diana got to help out. Her conversation with everyone, and how she knows them is also really great.

I’m convinced that the stick is a horcrux.
Nick is reluctant to give up the cloth to Eve and to put the stick away, and then he goes through withdrawals. The stick also protects Nick from anyone who tries to hurt him or separate the two of them.
It’s like the stick knew that the cops arresting Nick were not friends. Can you be psychically linked to a stick?
There are still a whole lot of theories when it comes to the stick, but at least we are constantly getting clues. There’s no answers yet, but we have clues. Do you have any new theories about the stick?
