Grimm Review: Fugitive (Season 6 Episode 1)
“Maybe this world is another planet’s hell.”
On Grimm Season 6 Episode 1, “Fugitive,” we pick right back up where we left off last season, and the tension never lets up.
Still, there is never any real fear that Renard will win. Sure, he is massing the entire police force to capture Nick, but you just kind of shrug it off. Nick will pull through, he always does.
Granted, this is the first episode, but it’s not like things ever look good for Nick. There’s just this feeling that everything work out in Nick’s favor. Bud may be freaking out, but there isn’t really a point where you are.
Hopefully there are moments throughout the season that make you afraid that Renard is going to win or that Team Grimm will suffer a devastating setback.
Yes, I am asking for the pain, which I will probably regret, but this is the final season. The stakes are high, so Team Grimm needs to suffer some losses. It will make the victory even sweeter.
Wu: Um, it looks like you were shot.
Monroe: Like more than once.
Wu: You’re not a ghost are you?
Nick: I hope not.
The only time that it really looks bad for Nick is when he goes to see Adalind. Seeing as how she knows that Diana wants nothing more in life for her parents to be together (and she will use magic to force it to happen), why would Adalind think bringing the guy she actually loves over to her house would be a good idea?
The door is open during their make out session too. Be smart, Adalind!
Adalind and Nick’s “love” is still a little weird, but the part that bothers me the most is Adalind breaking down in front of Nick saying that she cannot take it anymore.
While it is nice to see a more vulnerable side of Adalind, she is Adalind freaking Schade! She may not have full control of her powers that may or may not be coming back — seriously, where did we land on that? I do not remember – but she is still a strong woman.
Surely she can survive being trapped in a house with her children and Renard for a little while, especially now that Bonaparte is gone. She does not need Nick to protect her, and yeah, it is still weird to hear her say how she needs to be with him. Is anyone fully on board the Nick and Adalind ship?
It looks like the magical stick will be a big focus of the final season. Thankfully, we do get some small clues as to what the stick does. Of course, there are still a gazillion and one questions, but, hey, progress!
The most interesting clue is that Eve’s soul is pure. How does a stick purify someone’s soul? No idea. It’s an unusual side effect or maybe intended effect of the stick.
This stick was heavily protected because it would do some seriously bad things if it fell into the wrong hands, so there has to be more that the stick can do. There is not an obvious evil aspect of purifying someone’s soul.
Eve did warn Nick not to hold onto the stick for too long, so maybe that is where the danger comes in.
I don’t know about you, but when Eve warns Nick, my mind instantly goes to Ron having the horcrux around his neck for too long.
Eve’s soul being pure would explain why she can no longer wogue. Adalind has mentioned how being a hexenbiest can change a person, and we experienced it first hand when Juliette first changed.
This clue also seems to shut down the theory that Eve is turning back into Juliette…maybe.
Eve does seem to be feeling again, but there is no reason to think that a pure soul means Juliette is back. We still do not even know how Eve came to be.
