NCIS: Los Angeles Review: Sirens (Season 8 Episode 10)
Hello mole, it’s you again.
NCIS: LA Season 8 Episode 10, titled “Sirens” takes us right back into the hunt for the very same mole we’ve been after for what feels like ages now.
Except this time, we finally get somewhere. And by somewhere I mean we get a lead, of course. This is end-of-the-season material, after all.
Can’t solve this mystery too quickly. Been there, done that, didn’t really like how that storyline worked out.
In the process of getting this lead that will take a few weeks to pan out, we get a few more crumbs of a few other storylines that we’ll surely be revisiting in the next few episodes, as well.
There’s Kensi’s desperation to come back, only amplified by the fact that Sullivan, the guy who pushed our uber-competitive gal into getting better, has been cleared to go back to his unit.
There’s Callen’s family dynamics, with the father that barely gets to be called one and the sister and the nephew that don’t even know they’re related to him.
There’s Hetty out into the field, Hetty worried about the team she considers a family, Hetty having some doubts about the future.
There’s Granger, looking like his same unflappable, slightly cranky self, and yet, as concerned about the mole as the rest of them.
There’s Sam and Callen both playing a funny if slightly cruel prank on Deeks, the one who was always an outsider and is now, at last part of the family.
And there’s this show – the one we’re supposed to be able to pick up in any particular episode and understand without needing to worry about the background stuff, still being that, and yet, in many ways, becoming that much more.
Want a real, mature and yet flawed OTP? This the show for you.
Want a BROTP that’ll make you laugh and still give you feels? Yes, you can find that here.
Want strong female characters that have their own storylines, worries and concerns separate from the men in their lives? You should give this show a chance.
Want to come in as a show starts to develop a romance so you don’t miss even one second? Hey, you’re in luck.
Want a group of completely different and maybe even incompatible people who re-define what it means to be family? You guessed it, that’s just what NCIS: LA has to offer.
There’s a lot of good TV out there, and I admit at some point, a few seasons back, I considered dropping this show to make place for others.
I’m really, really glad I didn’t. Because what I find here, I really, really couldn’t find anywhere else.
Not all of it.
Other things to note:
- I totally get Kensi’s mom – and Deek’s mom, for that matter. And I totally get Kensi too. It’s one of those situations.
- Deeks in OPS could be a webseries. I’d watch it.
- Eric singing loudly and off-key as he worked is me.
- Not a hint of anything between Sullivan and Kensi. Nothing. He was just there to push Kensi towards coming back – since he’s going back to his unit.
- The running gag of Deeks getting in the car with women who drive way too fast is still funny. Not sure it will ever stop being funny.
- Was Hetty driving on the sidewalk again while Sam and Callen were being shot at?
- It’s not an episode of NCIS: LA if someone who was going to give them information doesn’t get killed.

I love reading your reviews , they are so perfect ! This was another great episode , this show this season is so good! The episode seemed much like what I have come to expect from this season, lot of field action, good use of all the main characters, continuity of characters, callbacks to previous episodes, Deeks partnered with people I like, they moved the mole story forward, all in all a good solid, episode.I really like Deeks with Sam and Callen in the field, we do not get enough of the three male agents in the field together. I also really like Deeks in the field with Hetty, another thing we do not get enough of. This season is just flying by, with one good episode after another.
I was disappointed that there was no Densi scenes. Loved Deeks with Sam & Callen in the field together. I also love how Hetty calls Deeks Martin. Don’t like Sullivan and I have heard he is coming back. So if he messes with Densi or Kensi cheats on Deeks I am done with the show. We have waited long enough for them to be together. Let them be happy!!
So we get no Densi scene. What we get instead is a creep that shows up at their house with a six-pack of beer in the middle of the day. and we get those 2 actors taunting the fans on IG. nice. Glad I have been faithful to the show for 8 years.
