Criminal Minds Preview: Double Identity (Season 12 Episode 5)

Criminal Minds, Previews

On “a Criminal Minds you don’t want to miss,” is the team hunting a killer or the victims?

Everyone is not who they say they are, so could the killer be hiding in plain sight?

Knowing this series, there are plenty of crazy, twisted twists that the writers could throw at us and leave us stunned. Whatever the writers have planned, the story is sure to be thrilling.

Plus, the guy in the red shirt just looks like a killer, so I’m calling it now.

Since Derek left, Garcia’s presence has been a bit reduced, other than this awful relationship/friendship with Luke Alvez that they’re trying to push on us.

We get it, he’s the Derek Morgan replacement, but really, he’s not. Stop trying to force something to fit the mold of what worked for the show for so long because it isn’t the same.

Luke isn’t Derek, and he never will be.

Giving him the same attitude and relationships just makes him look like a cheap, plastic replacement instead of a character that we’re supposed to grow to like, trust, and even look forward to seeing on our screens every week.

Other than Luke, the rest of the team is working almost perfectly this season. Granted, Thomas Gibson’s absence is highly noticed, but Paget Brewster is still as wonderful as ever.

Hotchner’s absence really needs to be explained permanently sooner rather than later. Keeping him on the series in the background, as if there’s any chance of him returning, is misleading and it’s out-of-character for Hotchner to have just disappeared after being the team leader since Season 1.

Saying he’s on a mission but available for consulting is basically teasing the fans that want the character to return in a timely manner, if he ever does.

Criminal Minds continues Wednesdays at 9/8c on CBS.
