American Horror Story Review: Chapter 6 (Season 6 Episode 6)
Holy plot twist!
American Horror Story: Roanoke has pulled off the biggest twist that we’ve seen throughout the entire series.
The huge mystery of the season has been revealed and ‘My Roanoke Nightmare’ is no more. Instead, it is now ‘Return to Roanoke: Three Days in Hell,’ where the real life Shelby, Matt, and Lee have to go back to the Roanoke house along with the actors playing them in the reenactments.
That’s right, for everyone who guessed, myself included, that the entire thing was fake, give yourself a round of applause. Every person acting in the reenactment is a real life actor, with the real Shelby, Matt, and Lee being the ones interviewed.
I enjoy all of the real actors. Especially Kathy Bates as Agnes and Sarah Paulson as Audrey. They are both such talented women, and I need the world to see it.
I think that with Agnes believing she’s the real Butcher, Bates gets to, somewhat, go back and get in the same mindset she was in for Misery. I loved that movie, all because of Kathy Bates, so I’m excited to see where she takes Agnes in the second half of Season 6.
If you know me, then you know that I am in love with Sarah Paulson. So, naturally, I fell in love with her new character in a heartbeat. That accent that she gets to play with is so adorable, and I like that Audrey and Shelby are on the fence with each other.
I think it will make for some real drama with the last four episodes.
Rory, on the other hand? Eh. Don’t get me wrong, Evan in that red hair has me swooning, but after he opens his mouth? Not so much. I think that if we had more time with him, he would’ve grown on me, but now we will never know.
Back to the Millers, if I was any of them, there’s no way that I would be stepping foot back into that house, no matter how many rumors spread. Let alone with a group of people who don’t like me and think that my story is fake.
The sad part is that the actors portraying the characters in the reenactment have no concerns with going back, but only because while they were filming in the summer, nothing bad happened to them.
Now, they are staying during the blood moon, which means that the ghosts that tormented the Millers can now torture, and kill, them as well. Just ask Rory.
Oh wait, you can’t. He doesn’t believe that the ghosts are real and it gets him killed.
Thanks for that, Ryan Murphy. We had to watch Evan Peters be killed two episodes in a row, except this time he won’t be coming back. Or will he? Technically, everyone who dies in the house comes back as a ghost. So, does that mean that we haven’t seen the end of Evan Peters? Or am I just getting my hopes up?
The way this season is playing out is very enjoyable. I’ll admit, with so many misdirects and no information about the season at all it was a little frustrating at first, but it was so worth it. I’m excited to see what the second half will bring next.
Other Thoughts:
- Sidney is the real villain when it comes to the living. Not only does he make everyone go back to the Roanoke home because he doesn’t think it’s haunted, but he also teases Agnes with the thought of her coming back even though she has mental issues. I can already see that not being a good thing later down the line.
- The real life ghosts we’ve seen glimpses of are already ten times scarier than anything we saw in the reenactment. The ghosts are more lifelike, which makes them even more frightening. We saw the nurses, the Pigman, and even a burnt (real) Mason walking the halls of the house.
- When I said that I wanted scenes with Sarah Paulson and Lily Rabe together, this isn’t quite what I meant. But, I’ll take whatever I can get.
- If Evan Peters is already dead, I’ll be upset. He is one of the main actors on this show and to be killed off after less than 30 minutes worth of screen time in six episodes is ridiculous.
- With Taissa Farmiga and Finn Wittrock’s confirmation for this season who do you guys think they’ll be playing? I believe that Finn might play Ambrose and Taissa maybe Priscilla. I would love to have Taissa play the real, original Supreme, but I know Ryan Murphy doesn’t love us enough for that.
