Lucifer Preview: Mummy’s Home (Season 2 Episode 1)

Everyone’s favorite devil is back this Monday on Lucifer Season 2 Episode 1. Except this time, it’s the devil’s mother that’s in the spotlight.

Last season’s finale did give us a tease about Lucifer‘s mom. If you’ll recall, Lucifer was genuinely scared when he found out that she was in town.

In the teaser, it seems that Mum (Charlotte) has escaped from hell. What exactly is she up to? No one knows. Lucifer, however, is scared for his life.

Terror is definitely something that doesn’t suite the devil. Last season, even in his fragile state, Lucifer was as fearless as a mortal could be. What could it be about his mum that frightens him so?

One thing I absolutely love, is that Amenadiel and Lucifer are teaming up again. One of my favorite episodes of Season 1 was when the two teamed up to hunt down Malcolm.

In fact, towards the end of the finale, the show did a great job of establishing a lot of character dynamics. I would like to see Season 2 expand on those dynamics.

Speaking of, it doesn’t look like Maze and Lucifer are on the best of terms. She’s definitely hiding something. And Chloe seems to be a lot more interested in Lucifer and not the other way around this time.

It’s actually so bizarre that Chloe still has no idea that Lucifer’s the actual devil. I mean, how thick can you be? She literally saw him come back from the dead.

And how do you react to that? Do a blood test, of course. Well done, Chloe!

I know Charlotte was supposed to be ‘the big bad’ of this season, but the teaser is making her out to be a caring mother who just wants to spend time with her sons.

Unlike Malcolm who was practically diabolical, Charlotte does seem to have a soft side. I think her character might take the same path as Amenadiel and that she might actually turn out to be good.

The synopsis for the episode, titled “Everything’s Coming Up Lucifer,” reads:

In Season Two, LUCIFER MORNINGSTAR (Tom Ellis) and his brother, AMENADIEL (DB Woodside), who have been sparring over Lucifer’s resistance to returning to the underworld, will now be brought back together for one common goal – to find their mother, CHARLOTTE (Tricia Helfer, “Battlestar Galactica”), who escaped Hell. After all, Lucifer doesn’t take after his dad, so the parent he does resemble is sure to be quite terrifying. Lucifer’s work with the LAPD also is upended when the police force hires ELLA LOPEZ (Aimee Garcia “The George Lopez Show”), a smart, tough forensic scientist whose mutual belief in both faith and science proves a point of interest to Lucifer.

With mom on the loose, DR. LINDA MARTIN (Rachael Harris), who has become not only a therapist, but also a confidante to Lucifer, will surely have a lot of advice to dole out. And, by the time she’s done with them, she may need a therapist of her own.
