Suits Review: Spain (Season 6 Episode 6)

Reviews, Suits

Kevin isn’t a bad guy after all, not really.

The thing I find most interesting about Suits Season 6 so far is the fact that Harvey and Mike are finding themselves caught in such moral dilemmas.

That’s often the case on this show, but it’s standing out more for me now that Mike is in prison.

On “Spain,” we learn more about why Kevin is in prison, making it that much harder for Mike to turn on him so that he can get himself out of prison. In fact, it seems like Kevin and Mike actually have a lot in common.

These are both men who are willing to make a sacrifice for the people they love. For Kevin, it’s for his wife and his family, and for Mike, it’s Harvey and the firm.

It’s even more complicated for Mike since Kevin caused an accident drunk driving, which hits him on a deep personal level since that’s how he lost his parents at a young age. With Kevin, Mike sees someone who is ultimately a good person, and who made some mistakes. I think that’s going to have a long-lasting effect on his character.

What bothers me is that Mike is still a little too trusting and a little too naive, something that Patrick J. Adams himself has admitted to struggling with. I can’t understand why Mike keeps going to Theo Julius and just spilling his guts all over the place. Didn’t he learn anything from his first night in prison?

I’m worried, you guys.

Meanwhile, Harvey is tackling a case with the goal of getting Mike out of prison, but in doing so, he finds himself in a grey area as well.

He’s willing to give evidence to the prosecution (in the form of leftover fries and a burger wrapper, because sure) rather than do what’s actually best for his client.

He tells Cahill he’s made his peace with that, and it’s clear he has. Mike is his number one priority.

Cahill: Dammit, you said you were gonna defend him to the best of your ability.
Harvey: And I meant it. But I also knew if push came to shove, I’d do what I had to to get Mike out. And I made my peace with it.

Now, let’s talk about what’s going on with Rachel, because I have to say, I kind of love it.

For starters, she’s not focused on Mike. She’s not grieving about him or worrying over him, but instead has something else to focus on which gives her the chance to prove how awesome she is.

The case she’s working on continues to let us see her interact with her law professor (who, I gotta say, I don’t trust — but I find I don’t trust anyone on Suits at first). It also gives her some solid scenes with Jessica, which I wouldn’t mind seeing more of.

Color me surprised when it comes to Louis and his grand scheme. No way was I expecting his plan to actually work (sort of).

Naturally, Donna pulls out all of the stops and handles everything perfectly to make it look like Louis is already living in this beautiful house, but they manage to get caught by the owners, and Louis is forced to confess what he did.

Tara’s reaction?

It’s the most romantic thing that anyone has ever done for her.

This might just be the woman for Louis, and you know what? It’s time. It would be so nice to see Louis in a happy relationship with someone just as quirky has he is.
