Killjoys: 6 Shocking Twists from ‘Full Metal Monk’ (Season 2 Episode 8)

Killjoys, Reviews

“Full Metal Monk” delivers twist after twist. Killjoys is starting to piece together all the mysteries of this season, and not so surprisingly, Dutch and Johnny’s missions are connected.

Here are some of the most shocking twists from the episode:

1. Khlyen is Aneela’s father

This one takes the cake for most shocking moment of the hour.

Khlyen and Dutch’s relationships is already complicated enough what with him training her to be a ruthless assassin and all.  Add into the mix that his daughter looks exactly like Dutch? Yeah, things just got freaky.

Obviously, this causes Dutch to question whether or not she is Aneela. She would be crazy not to consider it, although how that would be possible is still unclear.

Plus, why would Khlyen give Dutch a red box asking her to kill Aneela if Dutch was Aneela. Okay, my brain hurts now.

2. One of the 12 Scarbacks that went to Arkyn to kill the Devil is alive

Every time Alvis talks about this tale, my mind automatically goes to, “The Devil went down to Georgia, he was looking for a soul to steal.”

Anyways, the fact that this guy is alive is mind boggling. Sure, he’s a 6, but when was the last time he had any food?

Does the wall somehow nourish him? It’s also impressive that he hasn’t gone completely insane.

3. The Wall’s purpose is to get people high

Okay, the Wall’s goal is not exactly to get people high. It’s to make people euphoric and to take away their fear.

This creates mindless drones that will do whatever they are told. Jelco says that weeding out the weak through the rations is part of the plan, but what does the Company have in store for the mindless drones?

4. Also the Wall is super old

Someone used it on Arkyn hundreds of years ago to imprison at least one person — the Scarback Dutch, D’av, and Alvis encounter on Arkyn.

The wall predates the Company. The question is, who developed it?

5. Jelco frames Pawter and Johnny for Arune’s Death

I knew Jelco was evil, but damn, this is cold. There’s something about watching all this unfold with Pawter and Johnny being giddy and happy that makes everything so much more disturbing. You do sense that Johnny knows some of what’s going on when the tear rolls down his face, but he can’t fight back enough to override the Wall’s effect.

I’m pretty sure Johnny and Pawter are going to have a big target on their backs whenever the rest of the Nine, well now eight, learn of Arune’s death. Also, it was amazing to see Wynonna Earp‘s Shamier Anderson as Arune.

6. Exploding eyeballs

D’av needs to find less creepy uses for his “gift.” I did not need the image of exploding eyeballs in my head, but here we are.

On the bright side, this newfound talent prompts D’av to reach out to Alvis for help. It’s always ridiculously amusing to watch those two interact.

Alvis: I’m tired of hearing about your dusty junk.

Dutch: Alright boys enough flirting.

Alvis: He started it.

D’av: You wish.
