12 Television Shows That Are Based on Movies

Bates Motel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Friday Night Lights, From Dusk Till Dawn, Lists, Pinned, Teen Wolf
7. Friday Night Lights

Who can forget about Friday Night Lights? Chances are, you knew this one was based on the 2004 film of the same film. But what you may not know is that it also based on the book, Friday Night Lights: A Town, a Team, and a Dream, written by H.G. “Buzz” Bissinger.

8. 12 Monkeys

Syfy’s 12 Monkeys is based on the 1995 film of the same name, which starred Bruce Willis, Madeleine Stowe, and Brad Pitt. It was recently renewed for a third season.

9. The Librarians

The fun adventure series, The Librarians, is a spin-off of the original TV movie series, which also aired on TNT. The original series followed just one librarian, played by Noah Wyle. The spin-off, on the other hand, follows a team.

10. The Odd Couple

Here’s one that’s been re-made several times. And I mean several. The Odd Couple, which stars Matthew Perry and Thomas Lennon as Oscar and Felix, is actually the seventh reincarnation of the original play, which was first re-made into a movie in 1968.

11. Limitless

This is one that really should have lasted. The CBS series based on the 2011 film of the same name was recently canceled after just one season. Sad.

12. Teen Wolf

Isn’t it hard enough to be a teenager without having to transform into a werewolf every now and then? The fan favorite series, Teen Wolf, is actually based (loosely) on the 1985 film of the same name, which starred Michael J. Fox.
