Suits Review: Back on the Map (Season 6 Episode 3)

Reviews, Suits

It’s true. Harvey has not been the nicest guy all these years.

To be honest, he’s been a bit of a bully. But somehow– probably because of the great writers behind the scenes and Aaron Korsh, I have become insanely invested in the life of this bully.

You know why?

Because he is somehow relatable and personable, and he has values that I can respect.

This week’s episode of Suits, entitled “Back on the Map” shows us just why we love the guys over at Pearson Specter Litt. Even if they haven’t been the nicest guys… ever.

Since the beginning of Season 6, both Harvey and Mike have not had it easy. There’s been a lot of hostility, from previous clients and partners, and personal sacrifices have been made.

Now, we finally get to see them get a win.

Mike makes a friend in prison and gets the upper hand with Frank by finding out he’s an informant in a federal investigation, Harvey lands PSL’s first big client putting them back on the map, and Rachel shows a nasty classmate that she is not afraid of her, and is a damn good lawyer.

It makes me smile. It makes me think that we can all get out of this mess, alive. Maybe a bit scratched and bruised. But alive. Even with Louis’ erratic personality, and Donna’s snark. They’ll make it out of here.

With the help of Sean Cahill.

I am really enjoying this hesitant relationship that Harvey is forming with Sean Cahill. After two episodes of everyone shitting on Harvey (including Donna), he is the first person to talk to him with respect, and like he hasn’t just lost literally everything.

He even has a way to get Mike out of prison! Yay!

Right?

Nope! Kevin seems like an okay guy. Sometimes, I do find myself wondering what he did to get into prison, and I do doubt him now because of what happened with Frank. But I think could be an okay guy.

So when Cahill suggests that Mike become an informant to get out, it’s easy to say this will be a problem. Wouldn’t it be interesting if Kevin is also the guy that Rachel is trying to get off of death row for her innocence project?

It’s just an idea– but I do think it could be interesting. What would Mike do in that case?

Because “Back on the Map” just confirms how fiercely loyal Harvey is to Mike… but also that he still has his integrity and pride. What if he has to pick one or the other? What if Kevin is innocent, but the only way to get Mike out of jail is to let Kevin die?

Is my imagination running wild? Probably.

Either way, I can’t wait to see where this plot goes, and if Harvey and Cahill will become… friends! It will be interesting to see how this all affects Mike, even when he does come out. Suits took such a big leap of faith changing the whole premise of the show this season, and I’m wondering how they’ll keep these themes going, because they won’t be able to change it again any time soon.
