Ruth Connell Talks Rowena and ‘Supernatural’ Season 12 [Video]
Being the mother of the King of Hell is no easy feat. You’ve got to deal with power struggles, snide remarks, and the fact that your son sold his soul for a couple of extra inches on his ‘wee sausage.’
We caught up with Supernatural’s Ruth Connell at San Diego Comic-Con to talk about what she wants next for Rowena, getting to know her son, and trusting others when she knows how hard it is.

Rowena got to explore what kind of woman, mother, and witch she was this past season. For season twelve, Ruth wants to continue peeling back the layers of this powerful witch.
“Ultimately, I would love at some point for her to really dig in deep and really find her power, her strength,” Connell said.
Connell also expressed that getting to know Crowley and work on her family would be hard but interesting to explore.
“We’re interested in the family thing, lots of interactions with Crowley, maybe Gavin. I don’t know. But that would be interesting to see how Rowena responds to being a granny,” she added.
All of this is, unfortunately, going to take trust that Rowena hasn’t had since the Mega Coven.
“A real partnership [with Crowley or any newcomer] would take trust, I think. And I don’t know if someone like Rowena or Crowley…how do they ever really trust anyone when they know how bad they themselves can be?”
It’s going to be interesting watching Rowena bond with her son, any potential new allies, or even the new Lucifer. Maybe she and Crowley and can tag team that last one.
