5 Things We Learned About ‘Bones’ at San Diego Comic-Con

Oh, Bones. How hard it is to bid you farewell.

And yet, we did so. Or, at least, we tried. The actors tried.

You went down memory lane, and we went with you. Back to that first undercover case, to Hodgins and Angela’s beginnings, to a time before Cam, even. We loved you then and we love you know.

And we’re going to miss you, Bones. But before we do, we’re going to enjoy this final season.

Here are five things we learned from Bones at San Diego Comic-Con:

1. Booth and Brennan are going undercover one last time.

It’s only fitting, really. These two have had so many great moments undercover, even before they were a couple, that it’s almost impossible to end their run without giving them another chance to play at being other people.

And it’s not just because they do it so well (fact is, David and Emily have enough chemistry to play whoever they want and still have us shipping them), but because by now we know these two characters so well that to see them testing out different sides of themselves is like seeing an Alternate Universe come to life.

So. Much. Fun.

2. We can expect to see Eric Millegan’s Zack Addy in at least three or four episodes in Season 12.

You’ve been gone for so long, Zack, and then you came back in the worst way possible. And yet that wasn’t the end of the story – it was only the beginning. A second beginning.

One we didn’t like. One we don’t accept. And with news that Millegan would be returning not for one episode, but for multiple ones, maybe the idea that Zack might not be the person we think he is (again) can actually end up as more than wishful thinking.

It’s like they say about hope …it’s that thing with feathers that perches in the soul.

3. Jack and Angela will always make it. And, for that matter, so will Brennan and Booth. No matter what comes their way.

Maybe, at the end, we start to reminisce about the beginning. So do the actors. And if there’s something that we learned from listening to the cast during San Diego Comic-Con it was that: Things might get complicated, people might come and go, but the relationships will endure.

Angela and Jack have been through too much. So have Booth and Brennan. They’re the definition of endgame. The rest might be up in the air, but this isn’t.

Not by a long shot.

4. Cam and Arastoo will get a wedding.

Tamara mentioned at some point that she was afraid she’d get cheated out of a wedding. Well, guess what? She’s not! After all the ups and downs (and by downs we mean really low, low moments), Cam and Arastoo are finally getting the happy ending –or happy beginning, that they deserve. And it won’t happen off-screen!

And, considering the fact that Season 12 looks like it’ll have some very sad moments, we’re very happy to have a little something to look forward to.

5. We can expect two other familiar characters to die, though not any series regulars.

That still leaves a lot of people we know and love. Yes, the people present at the Bones panel will be making it to the end, namely Booth, Brennan, Angela, Hodgins, Cam and Aubrey, but …though that makes us happy, it doesn’t mean we can stop worrying.

No, Season 12 is still going to put us through the ringer. It’s certain to have some sad moments. And, hopefully, like Emily Deschanel said “I hope there’s some kind of happy ending on some level, even though I know there’s going to be some sadness in the season.”
