Containment Review: He Stilled the Rising Tumult (Season 1 Episode 6)

Containment, Reviews

Here’s how you know Containment is a mini series: people profess their love for each other in Episode 6.

On “He Stilled the Rising Tumult,” Jake professes his love for Katie.

I mean, we had already picked up on their eye sex and flirting, but it’s nice that he’s picked up on it as well.

While I do appreciate him trying to convince Katie into not going out to find Thomas, I absolutely love the fact that he understands that Katie is a grown woman who can make decisions for herself and just helps her stay safe. (I’m looking at you,  Salvatore Brothers.)

Kudos go out to Katie for being fierce, bad-ass, and strong. She is looking after these kids like they are her own, and it’s so beautiful to see.

Katie: “If he’s sick, I’d want to be sick too.”

This relationship worries me if I’m being honest.

In Julie Plec’s world, people aren’t allowed to be happy. Not for long, anyway. The Internet seems to be the most invested in #Jatie — of course this makes me believe that one of them will die, or be in mortal danger, soon.

But wouldn’t it be fun if it is someone completely unexpected that we’ve become invested in, like Lex?

Wouldn’t it be interesting to see, in the end, someone outside of the cordon and one of our main characters somehow gets infected, and they scramble to save him because, you know, he’s so important and the face of all public relations?

That could also show us the moral dilemma that Dr. Canters will now inevitably face.

Does he prick and prod and possibly kill Thomas in order to get a cure for this virus?

Blood based vaccines are quite difficult to produce (as the 2011 Contagion told me), but would a blood transfusion work? (The 100 tells me yes after watching the Season 3 finale.)

He’s just a kid…a kid who did not ask for this, and who now has no family.

Or maybe this is all a conspiracy, and the government already has the cure? Wouldn’t that be messed up?

Julie Plec is known to throw a curve ball or two and some of us have already predicted a conspiracy theory; but how deep the theory runs could be a shock to all of us.

The title of the episode refers to baseball, and a game is referenced throughout the hour — as a way to bring everyone together and forget about all of the doom and gloom.

It makes me wonder if the higher ups are just looking for a way to distract the public, but it also seems like a nice parallel to Thomas.

Thomas is what will bring everyone together and give us hope. For the first time since the first episode, we have a breakthrough.

We have someone immune.

Either way, I think its going to be fun watching Jake, Katie, and Jana try to crack the mystery of this whole virus, while Lex and Leo put some pieces together outside the cordon.

By the looks of it, Jana’s office seems to need some serious police presence, but once they fix the corrupted file it will be interesting to see what they find and what they will do with that information.

I’m sure Leo being a blogger will come in handy at this point, but we have seen what happens when the public finds out too much.

Is what they find the thing that creates utter chaos inside the cordon on Day 13, so much so that the National Guard is brought in? And, now that I’ve gone back and looked at the footage of Day 13, we are not shown any glimpse of Jana, or Jake — or even Xander.

Just food for thought.

“He Stilled the Rising Tumult,” is really setting the pace for the whole show. We can see a small light at the end of the tunnel, but something tells me it’s a long way to go before we get there.

Nonetheless, it’s going to a fun ride, and I predict a very shocking one as well.
