Castle Has Been Officially Canceled by ABC

Castle, News

Well, it looks like #NoStanaNoCastle may have done the trick.

After 8 seasons, the drama starring Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic has officially been canceled.

We learned just last month that Stana Katic would not be asked to return for a potential Season 9, after which Castle fans erupted in anger over the loss of the leading lady.

Tamala Jones was also not asked to return.

However, according to TV Line, Nathan Fillion, Jon Huertas, and Seamus Dever had recently made a deal to return for what would be a very, very different show.

Molly Quinn, Susan Sullivan, and Toks Olagundoye were expected to return if the show continued.

But that’s no longer happening, which also means we’ll be getting a different season finale than we would have otherwise.

Hopefully, it will feel like a proper send off.

The news still isn’t entirely surprising, and in fact, in an interview with Susan Sullivan last year, she even stated that she once predicted the show would last exactly eight seasons.

She sure called it.

What do you think of the news? Were you hoping Castle would continue regardless, or are you glad it won’t exist without its leading lady?

The series finale of Castle will air Monday, May 16th at 10/9c on ABC.

  • Good! It was not only insulting to Ms. Katic and Ms. Jones to be jerked around by ABC but also to millions of loyal fans and women in general! The heart and soul of the story was Beckett! This was the character we saw through Castle’s eyes and we grew to love her as he did. I can’t understand why in the past couple weeks they signed Fillion, Dever and Huertas to contracts and announcing it when there was a possibility the show would be cancelled! But I must say fans were outraged at them, especially Fillion seeming to throw their colleagues under the buss to cover their own butts! Sad to say but it looks good on them now! If they had at least tried to stand up for their co-star of 8 years fans would have felt differently. Sadly all we will remember is what selfish little actors the guys were! In the end ABC did the right thing. They might have been able to have a show with the remaining crew but it wouldn’t have been Castle!
