Stana Katic to Star in Spy Drama ‘Entangled’ from Will Pascoe
Stana Katic is returning to TV in a leading role on the latest spy drama series, Entangled.
Deadline exclusively reported the news that Katic will reunite with Will Pascoe, who created Entangled and served as the executive producer and showrunner of Absentia Season 3. Katic starred in and produced the Prime Video/AXN series, which ran for three seasons.
Entangled “follows married couple Abby (Katic) and Jim Sullivan, deep-cover CIA officers who must juggle their responsibilities as spies and parents while stationed overseas in one of the world’s most dangerous countries,” per the logline. The role of Jim has yet to be cast.
The series is inspired by the story of real-life CIA intelligence officers Meredith and Freddie Woodruff. Meredith Woodruff will consult on Entangled, per TV Line. Her husband, Freddie Woodruff, was killed in the line of duty in post-Soviet Georgia in 1993.
Jeff Frost, the former president of Sony Pictures Television, which produced Absentia, developed the series through his Bristol Circle Entertainment production company.
Frost also executive produces Apple TV’s Pluribus, which made its two-episode series premiere on Friday, November 7.
Relatedly, Katic shared the news about Engtangled on Instagram with the caption, “From the producers of #Pluribus … #Deadline #Hollywood #Streaming #Espionage #Spy.”
There is no network or streamer attached to the series yet, but Stanic’s hashtags suggest it’s only a matter of time before news of a streaming home is shared.
Katic starred as detective (and later, captain) Kate Beckett in eight seasons of ABC’s Castle. Most recently, she appeared on an episode of FOX’s Murder in a Small Town. There is no word on when Katic will appear on the small screen in Entangled.
Will Pascoe serves as writer and showrunner on the spy drama. Pascoe executive produces the series alongside Jeff Frost and Stana Katic.
John Sipher, Jerry O’Shea, and Rachel Harner of Spycraft Entertainment also serve as executive producers.
