Tell-Tale TV Picks of the Week: Best Moments from Daredevil, Once Upon a Time, and Scandal
This week on TV, we met Hercules and Megara on Once Upon a Time, and Daredevil introduced us to the Punisher and Elektra. The Magicians saw a dark and twisted side of a beloved author, while Supergirl showed us that Kara has a very angry side. On Quantico, we had to say goodbye to a NAT as the terrorist proved that s/he isn’t playing around.
Below, some of our writers discuss moments from this week in TV.
Ship of the Week
Lizzie: Marty Deeks and Kensi Blye, NCIS:LA. Adult relationships where people discuss ACTUAL issues are not the norm on TV. In fact, having Deeks call out Kensi about her mess and how uncomfortable it makes him feel in a house that’s supposed to be theirs was so surprising that I had to see it twice just to make sure it was happening. But it did happen. NCIS: LA does believable relationships better than most shows on TV. Who would have thought?
Allison: Brian and Piper on Limitless. Watching the two of them be normal and spend a carefree week together was amazing. They finally got a chance to be themselves, and then, they teamed up on NZT and pulled off a heist. Plus, there’s the fact that they both blackmailed a high ranking Russian official to get the other one out of a Russian prison. If this is love…
Ashley: I’m really rooting for Amelia and Owen on Grey’s Anatomy. Their relationship may not have been central to this week’s episode, but I love that Owen understood Amelia enough to be able to to cheer her up the way he did. There’s nothing like playing with a whole bunch of adorable puppies to make your problems seems to disappear! I think the two of them are going to be really good for each other.
Best Moment
Lizzie: Snow White wants to be Snow White again, on Once Upon A Time. Snow was the reason we fell in love with this show, all those years ago. And yet, for the past few years, she’d been nothing like the confident leader of old. To put it plainly, she wasn’t Snow White, she was the meek and agreeable Mary Margaret. But no more. Snow White is back – and right in time too. These people are going to need all hands on deck if they expect to get out of the Underworld.
Lyra: Being introduced to The Punisher on Daredevil. I didn’t expect for him to be so quick and capable of taking Matt down! His introduction was kept dark and you didn’t catch a glimpse of him until the very last moment of the episode. There was no doubt that I needed to start episode two ASAP!
Allison: Elliott joining in on the mission on The Magicians was amazing. I always love his scenes, so I am glad he was brought into the fold. Him pretending to be a super villain was hilarious.
Ashley: Abby taking Cyrus’ job on Scandal. It was a cutthroat move, but he deserved it. And Abby is going to be SO good as chief of staff. Her character is really shining this season.
Jessica: Annalise’s homecoming on How To Get Away With Murder. It was refreshing to see her in a different environment, and I loved how it felt like a play.

Character of the Week
Lizzie: Cat Grant, on Supergirl. Look, she got thrown off a building. She was literally one second away from dying. Cat had always been Supergirl’s greatest advocate, but when she felt she had to denounce her, she did. And then, later, when Supergirl came to her asking for forgiveness, Cat was big enough to offer her not a clean slate, but hope and a way back.
Lyra: It has to be Carol from The Walking Dead! She blew my mind this week! Her crisis of conscience was something I didn’t see coming. She’s always been the strongest of Rick & Co, but the time she’s spent in Alexandria has allowed her to reflect and open herself back up to loving, living, and not just existing. Whatever comes next will define Carol once more. Difference is that it’ll make her even stronger. This world isn’t going to defeat her.
Allison: Great minds think alike – Supergirl’s Cat Grant is my pick for character of the week as well. Cat knew that there was something else going on with Supergirl and that she didn’t just go evil. However, Cat had to protect the people of National City. She made the hard call to denounce Supergirl because it was the right thing to do.
Ashley: This one goes along with my answer to the last question — Abby from Scandal. I’m really enjoying seeing her character in The White House, and I’m looking forward to watching her in Cyrus’ position. She’s already done such an amazing job of handling things with Fitz as it is. She made a power move and didn’t look back. Kudos to Darby Stanchfield for doing such amazing work with that character.
Jessica: Annalise from How To Get Away With Murder. I was absolutely blown away by the Memphis scenes, and I was so moved by the way her mother comforted her over losing her son. Viola Davis was simply amazing in those scenes, and it reminded me why I started watching in the first place. She can take any script and make it fantastic and resonate with the audience.
