Teen Wolf Review: Codominance (Season 5 Episode 13)

Reviews, Teen Wolf

Teen Wolf really needs to tone down all the emotional angst and feelings it keeps dropping. A fan can only take so much! Hours after “Codominance” and it’s still hard to process the steps the McCall pack is taking to build back honesty, understanding, and strength against the Beast.

Let’s talk about it!

Kira’s fight is with herself and the darkness lurking under her skin. She believes she has control but in reality she doesn’t. Her one hope is pack. Like Scott and even Stiles, pack is a grounding force that keeps everything in check. The animals inside know that there is no need to run wild to protect oneself. The pack protects each other. Her love for Scott will amplify her control.

Sciles (Scott/Stiles) talking once more is the stuff of dreams! Finally they realize their mistakes and how months of drama could have been avoided if they just opened their mouths and talked. (Misunderstanding-city between these two!) A giant weight has been lifted off their shoulders and it’s the best thing ever! The core of Teen Wolf has always been friendship, primarily Scott and Stiles, and it’s fantastic to be getting back on track. Working together, clearing the air, reasserting their importance in each others lives and talking are the rights steps to prepare for the Beast.

The Beast continues to be a bounty of speculation and discussion. It’s revealed that the creature is someone forgotten and someone deadly, a werewolf. Is it crazy to jump on the ‘it could be Peter’ train? The Dread Doctors have ways to find people and he absolutely fills the criteria. Hopefully this hope isn’t a far fetched dream. Despite being evil Peter kept things interesting. And once you have Peter…DEREK ISN’T FAR BEHIND!

Lydia’s first scream while being comatose makes for celebration! The ramifications will be feared by the Doctors and The Beast. She is a creature of death that needs to master her heritage. Once that’s done she’ll partner with her counterpart Parrish, the hellhound, to defeat it. Something tells me though that one of them won’t make it out alive. Parrish and his visions count for something. They are fears of what will come and what could be inevitable! (Remember those melting skin dreams? Yeah, premonitions.)

Other Observations:

  1. Roscoe’s return *sobbing while singing ‘Reunited and it feels so good!’
  2. Liam proved how much he has grown by coming to Scott. No matter what they’re still family.
  3. Why did the Beast kill that school teacher? Even teachers aren’t safe at Beacon Hills.
  4. Guess who’s not buddy-buddy anymore? Theo and the Dread Doctors. When Theo gets in their way they’ll destroy him without thought.

Music from the Episode:

  1. “Too Deep” by Ritual ft. Delilah – Plays when Corey tells Mason about the Beast.
  2. “Recover” by XPLOR – Plays when Layden (Liam/Hayden) are lip-locking.
  3. “Shut Out of Paradise” by Slo – Plays at the end when Scira (Scott/Kira) kiss and Stiles drives them off into the sunset…or more accurately back to the hell hole known as Beacon Hills.

What do you think the next step is for the McCall pack? Will they defeat the Beast? Who is the Beast? Leave us your thoughts and comments below!

Lyra is a TV and movie enthusiast. It all started on a dark night when she turned on Fox and fell in love with the X-Files. It was all history after that as she got lost in Doctor Who, The Marvel Verse and most recently everything DC. Her love for Doctor Who lead her to study abroad, where she fell into live-tweeting and the lovely explosion of fandom life that Tumblr is. Her main love for the summer (with a mega re-watch happening) is Arrow. When she isn’t sharing her love for TV and movies she’s writing fan-fiction, taking care of her family, and puttering around her kitchen.
