Our 13 Favorite Veronica Mars Guest Stars

Veronica Mars was an amazing show. Though it only ran for three seasons and was inexplicably low-rated before being unceremoniously cancelled, it was a critical darling– to the point that it was later revived, nearly ten years later, when Neptune was revisited with a Kickstarter-funded movie!

One thing that’s quickly become apparent during our re-watch of the series is how many already-huge or soon-to-be-huge stars graced Veronica’s hometown of Neptune. From gossip girls to citizens of Pawnee, here are our thirteen favorite Veronica Mars guest spots, in no particular order.

Note that a handful of these guest stars appeared in more than one episode. For the purposes of this list, we’re including the episode marking their first appearance.

13. Jonathan Bennett as Casey Gant (Season 1 Episode 9 “Drinking the Kool-Aid”)

Oh, hi there, Aaron Samuels! Right after being fought over by Regina George (Rachel McAdams) and Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) and told that his hair looked sexy pushed back in the 2004 smash hit Mean Girls, Bennett guest-starred as the rich jerk ’09er Casey Gant who had been converted by the peaceful, loving Moon Calf Collective, to the chagrin of his money-hungry parents.

12. Armie Hammer as Kurt (Season 3 Episode 3 “Wichita Linebacker”)

Several years before there were two of him in The Social Network and nearly a decade before he donned a Russian accent in The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Armie Hammer played Kurt, a Hearst College football player and Veronica’s schoolmate who has his playbook stolen in the third season.

11. Jessica Chastain as Sarah Williams (Season 1 Episode 7 “The Girl Next Door”)

Prior to becoming an Academy award-nominated actress, Chastain played Sarah, Veronica’s pregnant neighbor, in one of the darker episodes of early season one. Her stepfather (Mac Scorpio from General Hospital, coincidentally!) raped her, resulting in the pregnancy, and the episode culminated in a tense shoot out.
