13 Heartbreaking TV Moments from 2015 | Tell-Tale TV

13 Times TV Broke Our Hearts in 2015

Arrow, Best of 2015, Bones, Game of Thrones, Grey's Anatomy, Lists, Once Upon a Time, The 100

If TV shows aren’t making you smile, go heart-eyed, or basically have you yelling and/or tearing up, they’re not doing something right.

You’re meant to be attacked by an avalanche of FEELS every time you turn on the TV. You’re on a journey with these characters, after all, and if that journey is done right, you’re supposed to love them, cheer for them, scold them, and yes, suffer when they feel pain. That’s just the way it is.

Sometimes, though, sometimes television takes it a step too far. Sometimes you go from oh, that hurt, in a detached I’m watching someone I care for go through something painful to full on this broke my heart in a tiny million pieces.

And this year, TV delivered its share of those moments. So, grab a tissue (or two) and some chocolate, and join me as we count down those times where TV wrecked us in 2015.

13. Maggie is pregnant with Glen’s baby, The Walking Dead

Because, of course Maggie is going to sneak out to save Glen. Maggie’s a badass, and then she’s there, she’s so close, and she’s giving us hope, because she wouldn’t just walk out if Glen was really dead, right, they wouldn’t let that happen? And then she stops and delivers the news. She isn’t going after Glen, not because she doesn’t believe, but because she can’t risk it. She’s pregnant, and now the baby has to come first. Maggie’s pregnant, and she burned the last picture of Glen and, and …yeah. That’s what pain feels like.

12. Stiles finds his father dead (unconscious?), Teen Wolf

Sure, we don’t actually know what happened. He could be alive. But, boy, the whole thing looked like a setup for Stiles to actually, you know, get to save his father. And then he gets to the warehouse only to find his motionless body on the ground. Which is when he makes the face. That face. You know which one I’m talking about, the one that made us just want to comfort him till the end of time. Why you gotta do this to us, Teen Wolf? Why?

11. Cami is killed, The Originals

We got the kiss we’ve been waiting for, and then, because no one can ever be allowed to be too happy, especially when watching a mid-season finale, we got to see Klaus wake up to a dead (?) Cami. Except she can’t be dead, right? Right? I mean, it’s one thing to break our hearts temporarily, it’s another to rip it away from our chests and then stomp on it. Right?

10. Hodgins is paralyzed, Bones

Bones has been around for a while. At this point, I thought they were capable of many things, but breaking my heart? I wasn’t so sure of that. They’d already gone ahead and killed Sweets, after all. What else could they throw at me at this point that would hurt as much as that? Yeah, I know. I shouldn’t have asked. Because Hodgins is …well, Hodgins. And I fell in love with him many years ago, in a buried car and have never looked back. And this …this may advance the plot, and give the actor plenty of chances to hit it out of the park, but meanwhile? It just hurts. Bad.

  • Totally agree about Hook. I kinda predicted something like that would happen to Hook and Emma, for them to release the Darkness one of them had to be staked – but it really shook me up! I haven’t watched Outlander but I’m aware of it mostly because of tumblr. I must say #1 took my complete surprise. I’d never expect such a moment like that to happen on the show (as much as I know of which is very little), and wow – the discovery of it is heartbreaking.
