13 Times TV Broke Our Hearts in 2015
Grab a tissue (or two) and some chocolate, and join me as we count down those times where TV wrecked us in 2015.
9. Francis dies, Reign

We knew he was going to die, in the general history says he’s going to die way. But this is a TV show, and we sort of figured they’d keep stretch it out, or, maybe, take some liberties with what actually happened, because, well, we just loved him too much to see him perish. This is probably the exact reason why they made us watch as Mary promises him she’ll never love anyone the way she loves him, only to have Francis state “I pray to God that you do,” before closing his eyes for good. Well, that, and because they wanted us to dissolve into puddles of tears. That too.
8. Rosalind dies, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Things between Coulson and Rosalind weren’t exactly easy, or straight-forward, but they were interesting. Coulson was invested, and so were we. And it wasn’t even the fact that it all crashed and burned that got us, no, it was the way it did. So suddenly, so cruelly. Just like in life.
7. Barry doesn’t save his mother, The Flash

The whole season, the whole show, even, was about Barry not being able to save his mother – about his guilt, about how that one instant changed everything in his life. And then, Barry finally traveled back in time, Barry finally got one chance to make it right …and he didn’t. Because, in the end, Barry understood that as terrible and as heartbreaking as losing his mother was, the idea of losing everything else he’d gained afterwards was too much to handle.
7. Derek Dies, Grey’s Anatomy

This was unthinkable, blasphemy, and an I want to reach into the television and strangle someone moment that I’m pretty sure no one saw coming. Because Grey’s Anatomy was supposed to be the love story of Derek and Meredith, it was supposed to be about them getting over their hang-ups and making a family, with each other. And then, after eleven seasons, we had to bid farewell to McDreamy, and in the stupidest way possible. Oh, Derek. You deserved so much better. We’re sorry. And we’ll always remember you.
5. Oliver lies to Felicity, Arrow

It seems like a silly thing to fixate on, in the grand scheme of things, especially when Felicity was shot in the mid-season finale. If she doesn’t make it, we won’t have to worry about the lie, you’ll tell me. To which I respond, of course she’s going to make it. She’s Felicity. Duh. So we will have to worry about the lie. We will have to contend with the repercussions. We will need Felicity to get mad. We will need Oliver to finally feel secure enough in the relationship to understand that Felicity will stay with him, no matter what. And, we will need Arrow to never, ever break our hearts like this again. Are we clear?

Totally agree about Jamie and Sam Heughan.
Totally agree about Hook. I kinda predicted something like that would happen to Hook and Emma, for them to release the Darkness one of them had to be staked – but it really shook me up! I haven’t watched Outlander but I’m aware of it mostly because of tumblr. I must say #1 took my complete surprise. I’d never expect such a moment like that to happen on the show (as much as I know of which is very little), and wow – the discovery of it is heartbreaking.
