How To Get Away With Murder: Top 5 Moments from ‘I Want You to Die’ (Season 2 Episode 7)
We finally get away from having too many plots going on at the same time, and instead focus on action on How to Get Away With Murder.
The case of the week plays a backseat. (Sorry, creepy ex-husband dude) to the emotional drama going on, shaping up for what will be an exciting mid-season finale in two weeks.
Here are our top moments from “I Want You to Die.”
1. Bonnie confronting Annalise over her past.
Bonnie has always been a cold, calculating, and distant woman. She knows how to keep herself closed off from others, and she knows Annalise. In this episode, we finally get to see her true feelings come to light. When she finds out that Annalise told Asher about her past with abuse, she is rightly angry and betrayed. It’s easy for her to try to swallow this with alcohol until Annalise comes home, and Liza Weil let’s all of Bonnie’s pent up pain and anger come to light. The writers did an excellent job of finally making us understand why Bonnie was so trusting of Sam. Because unlike Annalise, he wasn’t a constant reminder of what happened to her and she will never get that back with Asher now.
2. Eve Rothlow wants to run away to Paris with Annalise.
It’s a fantasy that these two share in several sweet moments. Eve’s words make Annalise smile, relax, and open up about Wes. We now know that he is someone very important to her past (I’m thinking child she gave up for adoption), but that part remains unanswered. I’m crossing my fingers that we get to see more of Eve in the future. She seems to be the only person who can make Annalise vulnerable and gentle. It’s not a side we often get to see.
3. Protect Oliver!
Poor, poor Oliver. The sweet hacker boyfriend of Connor Walsh can’t help but get pulled into the group’s web. He would do anything to show Connor he cares. He’s a cinnamon roll! First, he started out with some harmless hacking here and there. But now he’s hanging out at Annalise’s house, flirting with Frank, arranging dates with possible killers, and finding himself face to face with the killer after Connor tries to protect him. Is he alive, or is he dead? Am I going to be in a puddle on the floor when we find out? Yes, I will be.
4. Laurel takes control.
Laurel’s character has spent much of this season engaging in acts of a sexual nature, but now she finally takes the spotlight. It’s nice to see her as something other than a sex object. She has stepped it up as a student and rightly deserves accolades and respect from Annalise. She doesn’t get this, because Annalise tells her she’s the one she doesn’t have to worry about. The less she says to you the better, and this is exactly how the relationship between Laurel and Annalise has been. While Laurel has been pushed aside, it’s for a good reason.
5. Bonnie schools Asher.
Bonnie holds Asher responsible for what happened to Tiffany at trotter lake and rightly so. Even if he didn’t directly participate in the rape it happened in his house and he had a responsibility to stop it. No amount of remorse or in Asher’s case money will make Tiffany’s life better.
Bonnie: You don’t get it. It’s not about the money. It’s the fact that you can so easily waltz through life not haunted by what happened. Tiffany can’t.
Bonnie is not going to take his excuses anymore or his frat boy antics. Her words just may be the wake up call Asher needs to wake up, start examining his life and find a way to become a better man. I’m hoping that maybe Tiffany finally gets the justice she deserves.
How To Get Away With Murder airs Thursdays at 10/9c on ABC.
