Bones: 6 Things You Need to Know About the Season 11 Premiere (Plus Photos!)

Bones, Previews

Bones Season 10 ended by wrapping up the story in an nice, neat package, as Brennan and Booth left The Jeffersonian to start new (and safer) lives.

So we’ve wondered all summer, where can the story go from here? Well, the answer is: not where you would expect. Season 11 is starting in a powerful way, with a tone that feels a bit different.

Spoilers ahead.

It’s a two-episode arc that focuses on the disappearance of Booth, and it will have you holding your breath. Executive producer Michael Peterson told TVLine that the episode was “somewhere between a traditional Bones and an episode of 24.” That description pretty much hits the nail on the head.

If that isn’t enough for you, here are a few more things you need to know about the Season 11 premiere of Bones, “The Loyalty in the Lie.”

1. There is a time jump, and we’d heard there would be. It’s now six months later, and we learn a few small ways life has changed in that time. We also get to see Booth interact with the newest edition of the family, a baby boy.

2. This episode doesn’t follow the typical formula. We don’t see random people stumble upon a dead body, and the case itself is dealt with in a different way.

3. Brennan is irreplaceable. Okay, you knew that already, but Cam has — yet again — had a difficult time replacing Brennan at The Jeffersonian.

4. Brennan gets to do what she does best. Though she isn’t currently working at The Jeffersonian, Brennan finds a reason to return for one especially significant case. Her focus and attention on the bones is much like what we saw in earlier seasons of the show.

5. Kim Raver (24, Grey’s Anatomy) guest stars as Agent Miller, who almost immediately clashes with Aubrey as she helps figure out what happened to Booth.

6. Brennan comes into contact with someone from Booth’s past.

7. Hodgins has terrible timing, offering at least one moment of awkward comic relief.
