Doc Season 3 Episode 1 Preview: New Faces and New Roles Shake Things Up
Doc Season 3 kicks off with its premiere episode, Doc Season 3 Episode 1, “Wherefore Art Thou.” The episode introduces viewers to new faces and new roles for familiar ones, shaking things up at Westside.
When we left the Westside staff at the end of Season 2, they had been through it. An outbreak of a deadly virus infected multiple patients and a number of the staff, including Amy and Dr. Miller, who almost died on an episode.
Others weren’t so lucky; Westside’s own Nurse Lucy was one of the first to succumb to the illness, while Amy’s mentor, Dr. Joan Riddley, died later from leukemia after saving Amy’s life.
The Season 2 finale also set up several major plot points for Season 3.
First, before she stepped down as Chief, Joan named Amy and Sonya co-chief residents to replace Jake. Amy and Sonya seemed to come to an understanding at the end of Season 2, suggesting they both planned to make a good-faith effort to work together.
Still, Amy and Sonya’s relationship has been rocky at best. They have both shown themselves to be incredibly stubborn at times. The pair have also clashed multiple times over how to approach cases.
Given their history, it’s hard to imagine that their attempts to navigate their new dynamic will be smooth sailing, despite their best intentions.
On the personal front, Amy seemed to have closed the door on her romantic relationships with both Jake and Michael. That is almost certainly to make room for a potential new love interest, Doctor Ben Grant.
Doctor Grant (played by Blair Underwood) was introduced during the Season 2 finale and will join Westside full-time for Season 3.
Not too much is known about Doctor Grant other than he has a history with Amy that she doesn’t remember. A history that included hooking up at a medical conference and one that will no doubt propel much of the drama in Season 3.
