Ponies Canceled by Peacock After One Season

News

Bea and Twila’s partnership in the spy thriller Ponies is over.

Peacock has canceled the series after one season. The freshman drama debuted with an eight-episode season in January 2026.

Variety, which was first to report the news, shared that it’s difficult to know how Ponies performed for the streamer. “Peacock does not regularly release ratings information for its programs,” per the outlet, which confirms that Ponies didn’t break into “the Nielsen streaming top 10 following its release.”

Ponies took place in 1977 Moscow and followed Emilia Clarke’s Bea and Haley Lu Richardson’s Twila, two “persons of no interest” who work anonymously as secretaries in the American Embassy.

After their husbands’ mysterious deaths in the USSR, Bea and Twila become CIA operatives, tasked to “uncover a vast Cold War conspiracy and solve the mystery that made them widows in the first place,” per the show’s synopsis.

Ponies Season 1 Episode 8, “The Stranger,” gives Bea and Twila a very short-lived upper hand before the American Embassy burns around them. So, that’s quite the cliffhanger to leave this show on with this cancellation.

Co-creator, co-writer, executive producer, and showrunner David Iverson shared a statement about the news on Instagram

“This is a bold, surprising, stylish television show. Everything beyond that — ratings, algorithms, all of it — is out of my control. I am very lucky to have made something I love. Goodbye to Bea and Twila for now. I hope we all get to visit them again,” Iverson wrote, in part.

Ponies also starred Adrian Lester, Artjom Gilz, Nicholas Podany, Petro Ninovskyi, and Vic Michaelis.
