Catalina Sandino Moreno Talks FROM Season 4 and Tabitha’s Arc

From, Interviews

MGM+’s hottest series on TV right now is undoubtedly the horror-thriller series, FROM. A third of the way into its fourth season, the show’s stakes, momentum, and scares only continue to escalate.

I recently got the opportunity to chat with Catalina Sandino Moreno, who plays Tabitha Matthews in the series. We discussed her arc this season, the heartwarming moment between Tabitha and Victor, and more.

This season has been high-octane, with its foot on the gas from the beginning. That mostly has to do with the addition of the Man in Yellow.

We learn quickly that he’s unlike the other monsters roaming about the town. This directly affects Tabitha and the rest of the Matthews’ family when Jim was the first to perish at the hands of the Man in Yellow. Jim’s death leaves Tabitha alone to take care of the kids, Julie and Ethan, putting her in an even worse situation than before.

“It’s going to be sad,” Moreno said. “It’s going to be tough. I think she just wants to fill her moments alone — she needs to just keep busy. Some people grieve one way, but in this show, you cannot grieve the way you should.”

“So I think she’s just filling those moments with stuff to do. There’s going to be a lot of action. There’s going to be a lot of things happening. It’s going to be a fun season,” she continued.

Aside from Jim’s death, she’s dealing with her own set of life-changing moments.

We now know that Tabitha and Jade are actually reincarnations of Miranda and Christopher. Their souls cycle through each time one of them dies, finding another host in the hope of finally saving the children the town’s adults sacrificed for immortality.

So far, we haven’t seen Jade and Tabitha discuss the newfound knowledge, and Moreno says it’s going to stay that way. According to the actress, Tabitha and Jade’s journeys this season will be ones that they take on solely, for the most part.

Tabitha has her eyes set on finding the lighthouse once more and escaping the awful dimension again. Jade, on the other hand, is focused on uncovering the missing memories from his past lives.

It’s no secret that when we finally see Tabitha and Jade reveal the truth of who they are to the rest of the townspeople, tensions are likely to escalate. Especially with Henry and Victor, as Tabitha’s connection to the two is much deeper than they could ever anticipate.

Moreno teases the impending moment, describing the interaction between Victor, Henry, and Tabitha as beautifully executed.

“It’s so tender and so simple,” Moreno assured. “We tell everyone what we discovered, and I think there are just these small, sweet moments that happen. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a big moment, but it’s going to be a very beautiful moment when she finally says, ‘Okay, I am Miranda. I am here, and I’m going to do this.'”

However, when it comes to which episodes are bound to knock the socks off the audience, Moreno teased that fans would enjoy the season’s backend: “Definitely Episodes 9 and 10 are incredible.”

“In the trailer, you saw a doll — the dolls are great. It’s a great little moment for the story. There’s going to be a lot, but for me, those little moments, being very intimate with different characters, are the most rewarding and the most beautiful,” Moreno said.

Unlike many other series on television nowadays, FROM has had a fifth and final season greenlit, allowing the writers to provide a fully fleshed-out ending.

Not always having had the luxury of giving proper goodbyes to characters in the past, Moreno confirmed that knowing Tabitha will receive one is a special feeling.

“I think it was necessary for the story to unfold over five seasons for the characters to land,” she explained.

“I’ve done a few TV shows where you don’t have the luxury to finish the entire journey that your character was going through. I don’t know how my character is going to end, but it’s nice that there is an end.”
