Fire Country Season 4 Episode 14 Review: Why Not Now?
The people of Edgewater try to have a night of fun on Fire Country Season 4 Episode 14, “Why Not Now?” After a thrilling, but harrowing crossover with Sheriff Country, Edgewater is in major need of some positivity and joy.
What better way than spending the evening at the 58th Annual Edgewater Rodeo and Stock Show?
“Why Not Now” is an effective outing, taking a step back from the hustle and bustle of potentially fatal fires to go in a slower direction, causing some commotion that directly ties into essential character growth for many.

Repairing a Bond
It’s been three weeks since Bode took Chloe and Tyler in, and in that time, Sharon and Bode’s relationship has taken a turn. Understandably, Sharon cannot move past Tyler being the reason Vince lost his life. But that doesn’t mean that Chloe should have to stay locked up inside forever.
Thankfully, Bode convinces her to get out of the house, and by the end of the episode, it’s safe to say her attendance at the rodeo is the catalyst for the tides turning for everyone. By showing her face, she angers Landon enough to make him forget where he is and reveal his true colors in public.
Landon’s chaotic outburst triggers a mass horse stampede, injuring over a dozen people. Despite causing a massive ruckus, Landon’s actions ultimately have a direct positive impact on Sharon and Bode’s relationship.

While she initially blames Bode for the outburst, Sharon changes her tune after treating Chloe’s minor injuries, listening to how desperate Chloe feels and how Landon keeps making out like the good guy.
Had Chloe not attended the rodeo, Sharon would never come to the revelation of just how much backlash Chloe has been dealing with. It’s this direct course of events that leads to the episode’s defining moment: Sharon airing Landon out in front of everyone.
For too long Landon has been getting away with being the good guy. That’s exactly why Sharon calling him out on abusing Tyler, threatening her at the firehouse, and causing the stampede is such a glorious moment.

Not only is it sweet justice, but it’s also a little messy on Sharon’s end. She easily could’ve kept her mouth shut, but instead chose to make him speak up and voice his lies even louder to expose him for the loser that he is.
It’s a first step toward what I hope will eventually become a mutual understanding between Chloe and Sharon. Chloe is not the one who set the fire. She should not continue to bear the weight of Tyler’s actions and be blamed for something she had no part in.
In the end, everything builds up to a moment that many fans have been waiting for: Bode and Chloe finally kissing. The slow burn between the two this season has been nice to watch unfold, only making where they go from here that much more intriguing.

A Match Made in Heaven?
Speaking of being messy, I am living for how blunt Manny is throughout the hour. In the midst of helping deal with the injured rodeo attendees, he finds himself working alongside Camille, a doctor he previously matched with on a dating app.
However, after the two bump into one another, she quickly unmatches to avoid any awkwardness. But Manny doesn’t let that stop him from having some fun.
Him playfully calling Camille out for unmatching is pure gold. It’s easily the funniest moment of the hour.

All jokes aside, though, it’s nice to see Manny working to build a spark with someone new. He’s been too secluded and to himself since Gabriela’s departure.
As a full-time doctor, Camille understands the fast-paced profession that demands dedication of time and livelihood. The partner of a firefighter needs to be able to keep their nerves in check and think critically rather than emotionally, and nobody would know better than a doctor.

Taking Over the Ranch
While everyone else has their minds focused on their significant others, Eve’s sights are set on the family ranch. With her father, Elroy, battling glaucoma, her cousin George has been the right-hand man on the land.
However, when Landon sparks the stampede, George gets taken on a wild ride by LJ, Eve’s horse. He ends up suffering a broken bone, leading him to need months of time off to heal.
After taking some time to think it over, Eve agrees to step up and take charge, offering to run the ranch while George heals.

As much as I’m a fan of continuing to build Eve’s character up and exploring the inner workings of her family, it’ll be challenging to see her primary focus straying away from Three Rock.
After her hard work to bring the camp back, I’d be unfortunate to see the program in jeopardy because Eve’s fixation is elsewhere. The camp doesn’t deserve that and neither do the teens who have finally become a team under Eve.

A Tough Choice: Job or Relationship?
Jake and Violet’s relationship continues to heat up as the two discuss getting a home together. However, the whole plan is contingent on her being accepted to a position, as they’re relying on the signing bonus to cover down payments.
Things take a drastic turn when Jake decides to make a call behind Violet’s back, hoping to use his status to sway those in charge of the hiring process.
Unable to see the error of his ways, Jake is confused when Violet gets upset. As a lawyer, she’s worked hard to get to where she is in life, so she defintely doesn’t need any help from a man to secure a job.
Not only is it an insult to Violet’s ability to fend for herself, but Jake opening his mouth ends up being the central cause of their potential break-up.

Violet learns that if she wants the job, she has to end things with Jake because their relationship would be a conflict of interest. So, the big question now is will she take the job and end things with Jake, or will she choose her relationship over her career?
While this is a major decision in the two’s relationship, it’s one of those that also won’t have a significant impact on the series. Since Violet’s introdcution in Season 3, we’ve only seen her appear in eight episodes, which is not nearly enough time to engage the audience.
Outside of its positive impact on Jake, the series has provided nothing to hook fans on their relationship. It would be a different situation if they had more screen time to build that chemistry.
