A First Look at ‘It’s Not Like That’ on Prime Video
Sometimes, it takes more than trust to bring a family together, and that’s what It’s Not Like That plans to explore.
Prime Video released its first look at It’s Not Like That, which premieres globally on Friday, May 15. However, all episodes are currently available to watch on Wonder Project’s subscription on Prime Video.
Even though it is a family drama, this look into It’s Not Like That seems to tell a much more emotional and deeper story about connection.

According to its synopsis, It’s Not Like That “explores multigenerational family dynamics and the complexities of rebuilding life after loss.”
It intends to explore its themes of family, love, and loss through reconnection and second chances in a modern-day family setting.
It’s Not Like That follows Malcolm, played by Scandal‘s Scott Foley, as he tries to take care of his three teenage kids after being widowed. On the other hand, his close friend Lori, played by Childrens Hospital‘s Erinn Hayes, is recently divorced.
Although both of their families spent a lot of time together, being separated from their spouses changed Malcolm and Lori. Now, the two single parents are trying to navigate parenthood together. However, things could ultimately spark something new for them.

In addition to Foley and Hayes, It’s Not Like That also stars J.R. Ramirez, Caleb Baumann, Cary Christopher, Leven Miranda, Liv Lindell, and Cassidy Paul. The series was created by Parenthood‘s Ian Deitchman and Kristin Robinson.
Deitchman and Robinson also serve as showrunners alongside executive producer Garrett Lerner.
Additional executive producers include Jon Erwin, Justin Rosenblatt, and Jon Gunn for Wonder Project, Scott Foley, Brad Silberling, Alex Goldstone (Dickinson) for 42 & Anonymous Content and Kingdom Story Company.
The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios.
