Memory of a Killer Season 1 Episode 7 Review: Dr. Parks

Memory of a Killer Season 1 Episode 7, “Dr. Parks,” becomes the best episode of the season so far. Everything that happens on this episode adds to the storyline, making sure every detail put in place earlier is explained.

The killing of doctor Parks has been haunting Angelo from the beginning for a reason. Now, viewers understand the reason and can see that every bad thing that has happened in Angelo’s life is because of that one job he can’t stop thinking about.

The ferryman, his wife’s death, Maria’s shooting, and Nicky are all connected, and we’re finally able to put the pieces of the puzzle together.

While at first it seemed Nicky might be the one calling the shots, this episode shows us she is only in it to pay off a personal debt. Nevertheless, her involvement might be what actually brings Angelo down.

Nicky finds a way to sneak herself into Maria’s life by joining her yoga class. Viewers know the reason for this is to get intel on Angelo and how to harm him, but it becomes even more real when Nicky says, “Torture’s just getting started.” While this is in reference to the yoga class, we know it also points to the way they will probably treat Maria in the future to get to her father.

However, this meeting also helps Nicky gather the information she needs to get into Angelo’s head, giving her more control. After they have dinner, Nicky uses what Maria told her to confuse Angelo. By mentioning Maria, the baby, and the possibility of the baby being named after him, Nicky gets inside Angelo’s head, leading him to believe his diagnosis is progressing faster than he expected.

By playing with that confusion and knowing exactly how to get under his skin, Nicky has the control she needs to report back to the ferryman.

Memory of a Killer Season 1 Episode 5, “Betrayal,” had viewers wondering whether Leah’s death was connected to Angelo’s job. For the time being, that doubt was only a hunch fans could get from everything that was happening. However, “Dr. Parks” makes that doubt more real when the man who killed her shows up in Maria’s baby’s bedroom.

Even though there is a logical explanation for that, one gets the feeling that he has inserted himself into her life for a very specific reason. We wonder why he is in her house and why he stays so close to her.

Toward the end of the episode, we see him and Nicky meeting up, and she mentions a message for the ferryman. Even though he was the one to mention him first as a clue in the case, we now discover he is the direct connection to the ferryman. He is the only one who knows who the ferryman truly is.

Finally, every character who has been shown or mentioned before makes sense within the storyline. There is a reason and rhyme for every single one of them to be present.  Every character is connected, but Angelo has yet to discover this.

While it would be more interesting to see the FBI looking into Angelo, Memory of a Killer Season 1 Episode 7, “Dr. Parks,” makes it exciting for viewers to see Dave putting the pieces of the puzzle together in his head. The moment Jeff and his uncle hand him the button found at the scene of the crime, we know it will lead him to Angelo.

Funny (or tragic) enough, it is once again Maria who leads Dave straight to her father. She points out the one designer she recognizes because she has seen her father wearing his suits. After the FBI’s theory, Dave doesn’t take long to begin doubting Angelo and how clueless he actually is to what happened.

Things are slowly but surely getting more interesting on Memory of a Killer, and we hope they continue on this path before the season ends.
