High Potential Season 2 Episode 16 Review: Turn, Up the Heat
Morgan and Karadec seem like an inevitable couple from the show’s inception. However, you’re still a little shocked when the show begins to lean into it on High Potential Season 2 Episode 16, “Turn, Up the Heat.”
We witness a hint of jealousy when Karadec informs Morgan of his plan to move in with Lucia. We know Morgan will spin it as just being afraid of change, but we know the truth.
Then the series shows Lucia being a little uncomfortable with Morgan and Karadec’s close relationship. However, it isn’t played as jealousy and insecurity.

“Turn, Up the Heat” later shows these women discussing Karadec. They love him and want the best for him.
We won’t see a petty rivalry over a man. Instead, they show mutual respect and understanding. However, High Potential is clearly setting up eventual tension between them over Karadec.
Nonetheless, the hit TV series ends with Karadec and Lucia stronger than ever. The storm of Morgan may be brewing, but she isn’t going to wreck their relationship.
That will probably come later in other ways. This is just setting the bread crumbs for when Morgan and Karadec start to realize their feelings for one another.
Most likely, we still have a season or two before anything romantic happens between them, but this is High Potential’s way of letting viewers know that it will happen one day.

The show must take several turns before it can lean into that romance. This includes the return of Roman. It feels like we have been stuck on this storyline for 40 years at this point.
The introduction of Willa has been an interesting development, but most likely just going to extend the Roman story even longer.
It’s also getting very confusing.
We can only hope that the season ends with at least some answers on his whereabouts, or if he’s alive or dead.
High Potential only has a few more episodes left in the season. It’s too far away from true answers about Roman for it to get a definite resolution before the season ends.

We expect a major development in his case, but we know there is so much more before it ends. It’s fine when shows have major plotlines that last for seasons — in fact, many do.
It’s a normal part of life and a show’s process. However, sometimes storylines drag on too long. They lose purpose and meaning.
This is how the Roman storyline is beginning to feel. We’re losing interest in knowing what happened to him.
High Potential will need to end the show on a major development or cliffhanger to increase our interest in Roman and his disappearance.
Life moved on without him. The show may need to do the same.

Overall, once again, what makes “Turn, Up the Heat” work is the personal storylines: The further bonding between the team. The case of the week almost feels like an afterthought.
We still want to meet Roman, but the show may need to revamp his case to increase our interest in Morgan’s desire to solve his disappearance.
Her goal to resolve this case may not be enough to keep viewers interested.
