Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 Adds Ming-Na Wen as Hera and More

News, Percy Jackson and the Olympians

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 has graced fans with the casting of some more important gods and goddesses!

Disney+ has announced three new actors who will be joining Season 3, including Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s Ming-Na Wen.

Variety exclusively reports that Wen has been cast as Hera, the queen of the Olympians and wife to Zeus. In author Rick Riordan’s second book, The Titan’s Curse, Hera appears at the Olympians’ annual Winter Solstice amongst her family.

Those who will also be appearing at the event in Season 3 include The L Word‘s Jennifer Beals as Demeter and Ransom Canyon‘s Hubert Smielecki as Apollo, per Collider.

The Winter Solstice is considered one of the most important meetings that the Olympians hold to push back against the evils of the Titans, especially Kronos. In The Titan’s Curse, this meeting would determine whether or not the Olympians would take action.

Variety expands on what to expect from these Olympians, personality-wise, heading into Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3.

Hera’s character biography reads, “Regal, maternal and no-nonsense, Hera is the only god besides Zeus who has children who are also members of the Olympian council, which gives her leverage in the family politics.”

Meanwhile, Demeter’s biography shows the goddess of agriculture to be much more reminiscent. “Demeter remembers the war against the Titans very well, and will do what she must to prevent the return of her father Kronos,” it reads.

As for Apollo, who’s a fan-favorite character due to his leading role in Riordan’s Trials of Apollo series, he’s much more laid back and charismatic. “The literal golden boy of Olympus and twin brother to the goddess Artemis, the moon to his sun,” Apollo’s bio reads.
