The Rainmaker Season 2 Adds Austin Nichols in Recurring Role
The Rainmaker will introduce a new character when it returns for its sophomore season.
Deadline exclusively reported that Austin Nichols will join the legal thriller as “Bruiser’s (Lana Parilla) ex-husband, a minor league baseball coach and former player who finds himself in the middle of a dangerous conspiracy.”
Nichols confirmed the news on Instagram, writing, in part, “Music UP! Anyone get the musical reference? I’m excited to join S2 of The Rainmaker.”
The show, based on the bestselling novel by John Grisham, follows Rudy Baylor (Milo Callaghan), “who is fresh out of law school, goes head-to-head with courtroom lion Leo Drummond as well as his law school girlfriend, Sarah,” per its description.
“Rudy, along with his boss, Bruiser, and her disheveled paralegal, Deck, uncover two connected conspiracies surrounding the mysterious death of their client’s son.”
It kicked off its debut season with The Rainmaker Season 1 Episode 1, “Episode 1,” in August 2025. Alongside Callaghan and Parilla, it also stars John Slattery, Madison Iseman, P.J. Byrne, Dan Fogler, Wade Briggs, and Robyn Cara.
The 10-episode season concluded on Friday, October 17. According to USA Network, that season finale was the most-viewed episode of Season 1. Less than a week later, USA Network renewed The Rainmaker for a second season.
“The verdict is in — The Rainmaker is returning for season two on USA Network,” Val Boreland, President, Entertainment, VERSANT, said.
“Along with our brilliant showrunner Michael Seitzman and our partners at Lionsgate and Blumhouse, we’re thrilled to build on the momentum and deliver another compelling chapter of this gripping legal drama for our viewers,” Boreland continued.
The Rainmaker Season 2 is slated to premiere sometime this year. Deadline reports that specific details about the season will be released at a later date.
Showrunner Michael Seitzman, author John Grisham, Patrick Moran, Jason Richman, David Gernert, and Jason Blum serve as executive producers. Lionsgate Television and Blumhouse Television produce the series.
