With each passing year, it becomes increasingly more complex to narrow down which television shows reign supreme in our hearts.

Between an influx of new series and the steady addition of original streaming services, the number of shows to consume often feels limitless.
For many, it can be intimidating, but it also brings an extra sense of connection to those we immediately fall in love with.

As in years past, 2025 had no shortage of compelling series, both new and returning. From mockumentaries, heart-warming romances, crime dramas, and uproarious comedies, there was something for everyone.

In no particular order, here are my top TV shows of 2025:

1. Abbott Elementary
AEIRESS JONES, QUINTA BRUNSON
ABBOTT ELEMENTARY – “Goofgirl” (Disney/Gilles Mingasson) AEIRESS JONES, QUINTA BRUNSON

Since its inception, Abbott Elementary has been a sitcom that naturally pulls me in each week. From the brilliant mind of Quinta Brunson, the series offers a reinvigorated take on the challenges teachers face in their day-to-day lives.

While we might only be five seasons in, Abbott Elementary has already secured its status as one of the more iconic series on television right now. That’s thanks in part to the wild antics, hilarious one-liners, and surreal depiction of real-life scenarios educators endure.

When it comes to ensemble casts on air at the moment, few successfully achieve the same level of legendary status. Naturally sparking joy and laughter for all who watch, let’s hope this series continues for years to come.

2. Fire Country

While there is no shortage of network dramas revolving around the everyday lives of firefighters, Fire Country continues to exceed expectations.

Fire Country Season 4 is only in its first quarter, but so much has happened in such a short period of time.

From Vince’s death and Gabriela’s departure to the welcoming of a new battalion chief at Station 42, an arsonist on the loose in Edgewater, Eve working to revive Three Rock, and the introduction of Sharon’s mother, fans are eating well.

With two separate seasons airing in 2025 and working around a star-studded ensemble cast, co-creators Joan Rater, Tony Phelan, and Max Thieriot continue to prove they know how to produce quality television.

3. Sheriff Country
Fire Country Season 2 Episode 6 Alert the Sheriff Morena Baccarin as Sheriff Mickey Fox

A spinoff of CBS’s hit series Fire Country, Sheriff County follows Mickey Fox (Morena Baccarin) as she works to keep order and peace in the town of Edgewater.

Brought to life by the same creators of its predecessor, the series is naturally captivating, drawing in viewers from the jump with a murder investigation.

Incorporating this separate aspect of Edgewater helps provide a more immersive, in-depth look into the Fire Country universe. Aside from the blending of the two, it’s excelling at finding its own footing thanks to the high-octane action and connections on screen.

Morena Baccarin and W. Earl Brown are phenomenal actors in their own respects, but when paired together, they elevate things to the next level.

4. Gen V
Gen V Season 2
Jaz Sinclair (Marie Moreau)

It’s hard to imagine another series that can so famously go toe-to-toe with the outrageous, balls-to-the-wall scenarios that take place in The Boys, but its spinoff series, Gen V, takes those antics to new heights.

The hiatus between Seasons 1 and 2 was a grueling but worthwhile wait, as our favorite collegiate superheroes overcame their differences to defeat the villain puppeteering their lives.

Season 2 does an exceptional job of setting the scene for what’s to come in the final season of The Boys, but what stood out to me most is their tackling the unfortunate death of Chance Perdomo, who played Andre, and eloquently weaving his death into the show, rather than simply writing him off.

5. Bob’s Burgers
Bob's Burgers Season 16 Episode 8, "Tube for Tina"
Bob’s Burgers Season 16 Episode 8, “Tube for Tina”

From the pilot episode in 2011, when we are first introduced to the Belcher family and their quirky shenanigans, to now, fourteen years later, the series never fails to bring a smile to my face.

Bob’s Burgers‘ best episodes are arguably any of their outings featuring original songs, and luckily enough, season 16 kicks off with a bang.

As Bob and Linda reminisce about how they got to where they are today, Tina, Louis, and Gene create an album to serve as the soundtrack to their origin story. The Belcher family’s antics only get better from there, providing comedic entertainment for all who tune in each week.

After 15 years on the air, the writers still never fail to come up with original, gut-busting content.
