Boston Blue and Sheriff Country Renewed for Season 2 at CBS
Boston Blue and Sheriff Country are coming back for another season on CBS.
The network has renewed both freshman dramas for Season 2. Both of which will air during the 2026-2027 season.
“Two new shows on Friday night have become instant hits, with audiences quickly embracing Boston Blue and Sheriff Country across broadcast and streaming,” Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, said.

“These early renewals reflect the power of character-driven storytelling, compelling narratives, and the exceptional talent on both sides of the camera that make these series truly stand out,” Reisenbach added.
Early renewals are correct as Boston Blue and Sheriff Country are only six episodes into their first seasons.
Both shows premiered on Friday, October 17, and since then, CBS has won every Friday night in total viewers. Sheriff Country averages “7.6 million viewers in Nielsen live plus 7-day multiplatform ratings.” Meanwhile, Boston Blue averages “8 million viewers in Nielsen live plus 7-day multiplatform ratings.”
The former is a Fire Country spinoff series that stars Morena Baccarin as Sheriff Mickey Fox, who “investigates criminal activity while navigating complex family dynamics” in the small town of Edgewater, California.

Sheriff Country also stars Matt Lauria as Nathan Boone, W. Earl Brown as Wes Fox, Christopher Gorham as Travis Fraley, and Michele Weaver as Cassidy Campbell.
This renewal comes ahead of Sheriff Country Season 1 Episode 7, “Glory Days,” airing on Thursday, December 5, at 8/7c on CBS.
“Glory Days” Description: While investigating a brutal assault at Edgewater High, Sheriff Mickey Fox uncovers a disturbing web of secrets, lies and abuse of power at the school.
The show’s executive producers include Max Thieriot, Tony Phelan, Joan Rater, Matt Lopez; and Jerry Bruckheimer and KristieAnne Reed for Jerry Bruckheimer Television.

Boston Blue is a spinoff series of Blue Bloods, which ended last year with Season 14. It stars Donnie Wahlberg as former NYPD Detective Danny Reagan. He joins the Boston Police Department and partners with Sonequa Martin-Green’s Detective Lena Silver.
Likewise, this news comes ahead of Boston Blue Season 1 Episode 7, “Baggage Claim,” which airs on Thursday, December 5, at 10/9c on CBS.
“Baggage Claim” Description: Lena’s pursuit of justice forces Danny into an unexpected role reversal, while Sarah faces a personal dilemma that tests her resolve. Meanwhile, Mae contends with political pressure, and Sean and Jonah uncover more than they anticipated during a routine case.
The series also stars Gloria Reuben as Mae Silver, Maggie Lawson as Sarah Silver, Marcus Scribner as Jonah Silver, Mika Amonsen as Sean Reagan, and Ernie Hudson as Reverend Edwin Peters.
Boston Blue‘s executive producers are Brandon Sonnier, Brandon Margolis, Donnie Wahlberg; Jerry Bruckheimer and KristieAnne Reed for Jerry Bruckheimer Television. CBS Studios produces both shows.
