When we last were in Hawkins, our heroes had temporarily stopped Vecna, but the town was devastated by these rifts that had ruptured all over.
On Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 1, we pick back up approximately a year later in the fall of 1987. The town is under military quarantine as the government hunts for Eleven. Meanwhile, our ragtag Hawkins crew is searching for Vecna, who has mysteriously disappeared after their last battle.
While Eleven regained her powers during Stranger Things Season 4, she wasn’t strong enough to kill Vecna/Henry/One. Netflix has released a clip of Eleven training for her next encounter with him, determined to finish him once and for all.
The anniversary of Will’s disappearance is approaching, which is sure to bring something absolutely horrific. When the anniversary occurred on Stranger ThingsSeason 2, it brought us the Mind Flayer.
This time, who knows what is in store. Will hasn’t lost his connection to the upside down/Vecna, and it’s only a matter of time before it reaches to him again.
The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.
