Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 Teaser Trailer Features New Friends and Vecna’s New Monsters

It might have only been a few months since fans saw Stranger Things Season 5 conclude one of Netflix’s biggest series, but there’s certainly more to be explored in Hawkins with a new spinoff: Stranger Things: Tales From ’85.

The streamer released the teaser trailer for the spinoff to their flagship series, Stranger Things: Tales From ’85. The animated series is set to release on Thursday, April 23, per Netflix’s TUDUM.

Although this teaser trailer touches on familiar ground, there also appears to be new dangers from the Upside Down that were never explored in the original show.

The teaser trailer sees the iconic characters from Stranger Things, including Mike, Dustin, Lucas, and Will, enjoying a nice winter break in Hawkins while also continuing their D&D campaign. Mike still has his heart out for Eleven, but Hopper is still interfering in things.

There are also more teases of Lucas and Max’s eventual relationship, which was further explored in Season 5. Considering how this spinoff takes place between Season 2 and Season 3, the development of their friendship will certainly hint at what fans know already.

Additionally, the ending moments of the teaser show Steve Harrington still having feelings for Nancy despite their breakup in Season 1. He confuses his new friend, Natalie, with her, sparking a bit of jealousy for who Steve was once in love with.

The Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 teaser trailer also showcases new threats that were not present in Stranger Things. Although one danger appears to be  Dustin’s little pet that he previously befriended, there are also mutated monsters, including a few pumpkin beings that threaten the group.

Outside of this teaser trailer, there are also new characters in Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 that will debut in this spinoff. One of those characters is Nikki Baxter, a punk-ish new girl who seems to be helping the group fight the monsters of the Upside Down.

Given how she isn’t mentioned or fully appears in the original shows, the spinoff has much to answer for as to how she influences the future of the series. However, it’s certain that she will play an important role in this series.

Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 stars Brooklyn Davey Norstedt, Luca Diaz, Benjamin Plessala, Braxton Quinney, Elisha “EJ” Williams, and Jolie Hoang-Rappaport.

Additional voice cast includes Brett Gipson as Hopper and Odessa A’zion, Janeane Garofalo, and Lou Diamond Phillips in yet-to-be-revealed roles, per The Hollywood Reporter.
