Tracker Season 3 Episode 6, “Angel,” depicts an exciting true-crime case.

Colter travels to Fort Wayne, Indiana, to find true crime fanatic Margo Webster, and the twists and turns along the way create a thrilling narrative.

The circumstances regarding Margo’s disappearance already set up an intriguing premise. Margo cleans crime scenes for a living, a unique job that Tracker has not portrayed yet.

Margo is also a true crime fanatic, which effectively drags Colter into the world of true crime.

Colter often works with police officers, but his main help in “Angel” comes from Margo’s friends, Gunther and Eddie, who are also true crime fans.

Colter working with Gunter and Eddie is a nice switch-up that Tracker should consider making more often. The stakes feel more personal if he teams up with people who are close to the missing person.

Not to mention, true crime fanatics have creative minds that offer Colter a different perspective.

Another aspect that makes this case exciting involves the active crime scene Colter stumbles on. For a while, it is unknown if Margo is alive, which significantly affects Colter’s work ethic.

If Margo dies, Colter would feel like he did not accomplish his job and would refuse the reward money. Colter doesn’t have many failed cases, but when he does, it significantly impacts his character.

Margo’s unknown status raises the stakes and keeps the narrative on edge until the truth is revealed.

Margo Webster: You think you’re some angel of mercy, that’s why you draw wings.

“Angel” also drops hints regarding the mystery surrounding Colter’s dad’s death and the connection to David Pearson.

The episode begins with Randy reaffirming has not yet found concrete information. However, “Angel” concludes with a stunning cliffhanger, revealing that Randy discovers something after all.

It seems like Tracker is about to reveal another domino regarding Colter’s dad’s death, and leaving it with a cliffhanger is an excellent way to end the episode.

While “Angel” has some interesting narrative choices, some elements on the episode fall flat, primarily with the secondary characters.

It is difficult for Randy and Reenie to interact with Colter in person; they are often delegated to phone calls. While it is understandable, it is still important to change it up occasionally to surprise the overall narrative and keep things interesting.

It is helpful when Tracker portrays what goes on at Reenie’s law firm, where Randy also works. The show depicts fun and easy banter between Randy and Mel while Reenie is away.

Mel has become the most fascinating side character. Her interest in Colter’s cases makes her suspicious, especially since she fits in so well with Reenie’s firm.

Only time will tell if there is something up Mel’s sleeve or if she is simply an outgoing, curious person.

Reenie is notably absent in “Angel,” a profound disappointment. Tracker is evidently not utilizing their main characters to the best of their abilities, with Reenie being the most significant example.

Of course, the missing-person case Colter works on is essential to the narrative, but these characters do not stick around for the long run.

Reenie is arguably Colter’s closest friend and confidante. She is also a compelling character in her own right as she works to hold down her firm, which she started from scratch.

It is a disservice to Reenie to delegate her to a couple of scenes per episode or to be absent altogether.

Tracker is at its strongest when it presents a compelling case and makes significant use of the main characters. Unfortunately, “Angel” only has the former.

Hopefully, Tracker will remember that Reenie is a fan favorite and critical character and begin utilizing her more often and more effectively.
