High Potential Season 2 Episode 7 Review: The One That Got Away
Sometimes you find yourself excited for a potential new romance with a hot man with an accent. Then it turns out he could be an art thief. Morgan experiences this exact scenario on High Potential Season 2 Episode 7, “The One That Got Away.”
The allure of a sexy man and stolen art really gets Morgan going on this very entertaining midseason finale.
Because of the recent robbery of the Louvre, “The One That Got Away” is relevant and perfectly timed. However, it may not be as straightforward as that case may end up. This ABC hit loves its twist or two.

Nevertheless, it feels like we already know the thief. The circumstances behind it and how it happened may be where the mystery happens.
We think the midseason premiere will have a lot more layers.
Rhys is a nice red herring, but ultimately, it probably won’t end with him as this art thief. He’s a distraction for Morgan and the viewers. He could have been a fun recurring character, but we suspect he won’t appreciate Morgan calling him a thief.
It is a bit of a shame because Morgan needs a new love interest. Rhys would have been perfect.
He is the suave character who feels out of Morgan’s norm, but in a way that challenges her and makes her strive for better in her romantic endeavors.

We want Morgan to have this over-the-top romance. Not every love story has to last. Some can just be for fun.
It seems fairly obvious that Rhys and Morgan won’t last, and not because of the art thief thing. It appears that High Potential is already seemingly setting Morgan up for three potential long-term options: Karadec, Nick Wagner, and Roman.
We are team Karadec in this house, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t interested in seeing how all these potential reunions and romances play out.
Roman is one of Morgan’s great loves. We expect a brief rekindling at least.
The vibes between Morgan and Wagner are strange, but it does seem like the show may be setting them up as a future couple who argue and make out a lot. Oddly, it may be fun to watch.

JUDY REYES
Rhys potentially being an art thief isn’t the big twist that the show may have believed. It seemed obvious that he was being set up as this mysterious, legendary figure, or a red herring for him.
He still may end up being him, but I don’t think he’s specifically the one who committed this crime.
This is another High Potential episode that works because of the case. It’s the perfect blend of fun, over-the-top, and slightly believable, and unbelievable situations.
I think the show works best when the cases are a bit grand. The stakes are high. There are so many cop procedural shows. Therefore, it can be hard to stand out.
Nevertheless, High Potential stands out the most when it embraces its most over-the-top impulses.
Stray Thoughts
- Karadec basically threatens Wagner for yelling at Morgan…. don’t mess with his girl.
- Roman’s storyline is kind of losing its appeal. It’s dragging out too long.
- I now must know where Morgan buys all these cropped fur jackets?
