Goosebumps Canceled After Two Seasons on Disney+
Goosebumps will not return for another season on Disney+.
The streamer has canceled the anthology series based on R.L. Stine’s bestselling Scholastic book series after two seasons. It was developed by executive producers Nicholas Stoller and Rob Letterman.
“According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, series producer Sony Pictures Television plans to shop the show to other outlets and explore different creative directions for the IP,” Variety exclusively reports.

The show’s ratings weren’t poor. Deadline reports that both seasons “combined have racked up 43 million hours watched across 16 international markets, alongside 75 million hours viewed domestically in the U.S. since their debut.”
Goosebumps Season 1, which consisted of 10 episodes, premiered in October 2023 on Disney+. It followed five teenagers as they investigated “the tragic passing three decades earlier of a teen named Harold Biddle — while also unearthing dark secrets from their parents’ past,” per its logline.
The debut season starred Justin Long, Rachael Harris, Zack Morris, Isa Briones, Miles McKenna, Ana Yi Puig, and Will Price. It drew from Stein’s Say Cheese and Die!, The Haunted Mask, The Cuckoo Clock of Doom, Go Eat Worms!, and Night of the Living Dummy.
The streamer greenlit the show’s sophomore season in February 2024, confirming that Goosebumps would be an anthology series.

The second and now final season followed two teenage siblings as they discovered a threat in their home that led to a larger mystery. They found “themselves entangled in the story of five teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994,” per its synopsis. They were related to David Schwimmer’s character.
That outing pulled from Stein’s Stay Out of the Basement, The Haunted Car, Monster Blood, The Girl Who Cried Monster, The Ghost Next Door, Welcome to Camp Nightmare, and more.
Schwimmer, who was also in the first season, starred on Goosebumps Season 2 — Goosebumps: The Vanishing — with Ana Ortiz, Jayden Bartels, Sam McCarthy, Elijah M. Cooper, Galilea La Salvia, Francesca Noel, and Stony Blyden. It premiered all eight episodes in January.
Showrunner Hilary Winston, Neal H. Moritz, Scholastic Entertainment’s Iole Lucchese, Pavun Shetty, Conor Welch, Scholastic Entertainment’s Caitlin Friedman, and Erin O’Malley executive produced the show. Goosebumps came from Disney Branded Television and was produced by Sony Pictures Television.
